This year's Detroit Auto Show saw an impressive array of all-new vehicles and concepts, including its all-new Air Mobility Experience. As a preview into the future of travel and commerce, the experience showed off an international display of flight demonstrations that showcased technology from around the world. The Future of Mobility While September's Auto Show included announcements and debuts of vehicles from well-known automakers like Chrysler and Jeep, the real star of the show was the Air Mobility Experience. Bridging science fiction with reality, the display included everything from a jet suit to passenger air vehicles. The goal is to show that the future of mobility extends far above the ground with air vehicles from Tel Aviv, Tokyo, Detroit, and more. Detroit's hometown display consisted of a vehicle capable of electrical vertical take-off and landing made for personal and commercial use. The showing showed the vehicle's use for clean commuting, delivery, and infinite other uses, all done in the air. Additionally, the world's first successful hoverboard impressed audiences as Montreal's team demonstrated its full capabilities as more than just a novelty. An Eye on the Sky Every air vehicle at the Detroit Auto Show displayed a combination of years of work, trial, and error in a final concept. Air vehicles include: Detroit's own Airspace Experience Technologies offering its Sigma-6 eVTOL, showing off an electric air transportation system for commuters and commercial customers. England's Gravity Industries and their patented Jet Suit for search and rescue, paramedic, defense, and other uses capable of 1,000 horsepower. ICON Aircraft's ICON A5 from Vacavaille, a two-seater amphibious aircraft first shown on Jay Leno's Garage. AERWINS Technologies showing off Delaware's XTURISMO Hoverbike, a Star Wars-inspired air bike with multiple practical applications. Tel Aviv's AIR ONE, offering a virtual reality experience for attendees to try out their two-seater eVTOL for themselves. A true Hoverboard comes to life from Montreal's Omni Hoverboards for a futuristic and award-winning, first-of-its-kind experience. This year's Detroit Auto Show unveiled several automakers' next generation of vehicles, including Chrysler's showstopping 2023 300C. The announcement marks and end of an era for the 300, one of Chrysler's most iconic and well-known models. Although the line is coming to an end, Chrysler put everything into creating one of the most powerful and luxurious offerings for the 300C. Made to Impress Although part of the appeal of the 2023 300C is its exclusivity, Chrysler made sure to pull out all the stops for its final release. Only 2,200 will be available around Spring of 2023, many of which are already reserved. But what other than limited availability makes the 300C so coveted? Perhaps the most noted feature is under its hood. The 6.4L HEMI engine boasts a mind-blowing 485 horsepower, achieving 0-60MPH in just 4.3 seconds. With a top speed of 160 mph, there's no doubt that the 300C is made for speed. But it doesn't stop there. The laguna leather-trimmed seats, silver stitching, and carbon fiber details make for a luxurious driving experience. Other features include 20x9-inch forged wheels, four-piston Brembro Brakes with red brake calipers, and 3.09 limited split differential, to name a few, with even more details expected to be announced. What Did Chrysler and Jeep Bring to the 2022 Detroit Auto Show? One of the biggest automotive events in the United States and globally is the annual Detroit Auto Show, known more officially as the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS). Driving enthusiasts from all over look forward to what brands like Chrysler and Jeep will bring to the show. The show took place earlier this month, but if you happened to miss out on all the buzz, let us fill you in. more New Models Shown at the 2022 Detroit Auto Show Let’s start with the Chrysler nameplate, which brought with it some of the biggest news of the entire event. It’s been almost 70 years since the Chrysler 300 hit the road, and Chrysler has decided that it is time to commemorate the model’s incredible history. They are doing so with the 2023 Chrysler 300C. The 300C features tremendous raw power in the form of a HEMI engine that puts out 485 horsepower. As for design, the car features black chrome accents from the grille to the taillamp bezels. It will also be part of the final series of Chrysler 300 models to go on sale, as production is set to halt on this historic model at the end of the 2023 model year. Jeep also got involved with new model announcements. The Jeep Wrangler 4xe has been a highly popular plug-in hybrid, and now, Jeep is expanding its lineup with the Willys 4xe. It’s a nod to the past in terms of design, but also comes incredibly equipped for offroad adventure with equipment like Dana 44 axles, a factory-lifted suspension that gives you 10.1 inches of ground clearance and 30 inches of water fording. Jeep also announced a 30th anniversary edition of the Grand Cherokee 4xe, sporting blacked-out exterior design features. The North American International Auto Show is one of the most well-known automotive events in the world!  Better known as the Detroit Auto Show, this event is a must-go for all car lovers, whether their passions run towards the futuristic concept car reveals, to the nostalgic, classic car exhibits.  You can watch all manner of extravagant vehicles cruise the streets of Detroit and visit each of the indoor and outdoor events to get your automotive fill.  But what do you do with the rest of the family? Look no further than… The Detroit Auto Show?  Yep, the Auto Show has announced that they will feature new attractions specifically geared (see what I did there?) towards the family.  The attractions will take place throughout the North American International Auto Show Public Show presented by State Farm from September 17-25. Beginning with the “ Dinosaur and Off-Road Vehicle Encounter” which opens on September 16 th during the Charity Preview night, visitors will get the chance to travel to the age of the dinosaurs on a Jurassic walk-thru experience.  You’ll see more than 80 life-sized and life-like dinosaurs such as the T-Rex, Velociraptor, and stegosaurus.  Throughout the experience, featured rugged off-road SUVs and trucks will be on display that look right at home in the prehistoric world.  Enjoy Story Time, crafts and fossil digs, and other interactive and educational activities.  And don’t forget the animatronic Dinosaur Band!  Also, you might get a chance to see some of the dino babies and adults that are roaming around the exhibit or take a moment a ride the T-Rex ATVs and Dinosaur Scooters.  This event requires an auto show ticket and rides are an additional cost. While we are in the prehistoric era, why don’t you check out Fred Flintstone’s own original car!  The car was built by George Barris for the movie “The Flintstones” in 1994.  It is on loan from the LeMay – America’s Car Museum in Tacoma, WA and will be on display at the Dinosaur and Off-Road Vehicle Encounter. Visitors will get the chance to experience some vehicles first-hand. Active tracks inside the Huntington Place Convention Cente r allow attendees to experience some of the products through vehicle rides such as Camp Jeep, Bronco Mountain, and the F-150 Lightning and Ram Truck ride activations.  Outdoor activities include taking a Volkswagen or Chevrolet along the street course ride-and-drive on the 2023 Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix Circuit. There’s really nothing not to love about Monster Trucks. The Monster Truck Throwdown will be held daily at the Hart Plaza and will feature the Bigfoot #20, the first battery-powered Monster Truck in the world.  See Bigfoot #20, Sinistar, and Raminator in the Monster Truck Car Crush Exhibitions. Get in on the experience with the Raminator Picture Truck Experience and the Monster Ride Truck Experience and then meet the drivers, collect autographs and get up close to the trucks to see just how big they really are.  And don’t forget to check out the Bigfoot #1, the original Monster Truck, on display and check out the Freestyle Motocross performances. I could go on and on about the events the Detroit Auto Show has put together for the families to enjoy.  We haven’t even talked about the flight demonstrations at the “ Air Mobility Experience”. This Duck, Duck, Jeep trend has since spread like wildfire (or pond water?). In less than a year, since its start in 2020, Allison’s random act of kindness has turned into a world-wide sensation. In fact, there are now over 50,000 followers on the social media pages Allison created for this specific act. People are sharing posts of their Jeeps being “ducked” from all around the world. According to Tim Kuniskis, Dodge brand Chief Executive Officer - “Stellantis, it’s going to be an Electric Summer!” As a way of kicking the “ Never Lift” campaign into high gear, Dodge will be revealing three new products at their Dodge Speed Week festivities between August 15-17, 2022.  Kuniskis says that these announcements will give Dodge fans a peek into the “new performance direction” for the brand. Dodge Speed Week is a days long event added to the traditional Woodward Dream Cruise Week of events and comes just after MotorTrend Presents RoadKill Nights. RoadKill Nights shines a spotlight on the culture surrounding muscle cars with events such as legal drag racing (yes, you read that right), v ehicle displays and even professionally driven Hellcat ride alongs. Drag Racing at Roadkill Nights It was previewed that August 15th announcements will include impacts on current muscle car lineups.  August 16th will feature a gateway muscle product and August 17th will usher in the future of Dodge muscle products. While only vague information has been shared, it's safe to say that Dodge might be releasing some information on a long awaited battery-electric muscle car from the masters of muscle as well as more information on the plug-in hybrid that is expected to release in 2024. CEO Tim Kuniskis discussed an introduction of a reintroduced Hornet as the Dodge Brand’s first plug-in hybrid with AutoForecast Solutions saying that the Hornet will most likely be akin to the Alfa Romeo Tonale. The Never Lift campaign has been set to power Dodge into the future and it appears that Speed Week will be the biggest debut yet for the brand. There will be 1,400 new jobs in Kokomo, Indiana, the U.S., and $2.5 billion in investment money. The execution of the idea begins in 2025 with an initial production capacity of 23 gigawatts hours (GWh). They aim to increase to 33GWh in the few years following its start date, which has yet to be released. Over time the investment could increase to $3.1 billion gradually. The facility will supply battery modules for various vehicle productions. The plant for the EVs to be built starts construction before the end of this year (2022). If everything goes as planned, the projection will launch during the first quarter of 2025. In the other half of this partnership, Samsung SDI will do what it knows best. The cutting-edge technology to produce EV battery cells and modules is known as the new brand, “PRiMX.” Samsung introduced the brand at the CES 2022 convention, focusing on superior battery technology.
