How Much Cargo Space is Behind the Rear Seat of a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

We frequently discuss cargo figures, which are always expressed in cubic feet. While it is easy to picture a single box that is 12 inches wide, tall, and deep as a single cubic foot, it is a little harder to visualize 37.7 cubic feet. If you visit our Benna dealership, you can get a better idea of the space, but making that numbers-to-stuff transition can be challenging when shopping at home. Fortunately, the automotive enthusiast site Autoblog has a regular feature that fills the cargo spaces of crossovers, sedans, and other cars with relatable things, giving you a better idea of what those cubic feet figures mean in the rear world. To compare apples to apples, the Autoblog editor always starts with the same six pieces of luggage.  This starts with two midsize roller suitcases that would need to be checked in at the airport (26” long x 16” wide, and 11” deep); added are two kind-of-pushing-it airline carry-on rolling suitcases (24L x 15W x 10D) smaller carry-on (23L x 15W x 10D), and “my wife's fancy overnight bag just to spruce things up a bit” (21L x 12W x 12D). With the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee, the author points out that there is no real storage space under the cargo floor as in some other models. This is because there is a full-size spare underneath, which is a welcome sight for anyone who doesn’t like limping on a compact spare or, worse, trusts their fate to compressed air and a can of goo. As this was the Grand Cherokee 4xe plug-in hybrid, a triangular bag formed around the spare held the charge cord, which the tester described as “brilliant packaging.”  Most PHEVs don’t have a designated and practical location for their charge cord. Getting back to the luggage, these bags are often used to test compact and sub-compact crossovers, and the mid-size Grand Cherokee had no trouble accommodating the six luggage pieces.  He then added a 38-quart Coleman cooler, a Graco Pack n Play playpen, and the box for a Pockit fold-up micro stroller. With these additions, he found there was still some room left over while keeping the rearview mirror operable. The Autoblog editor also made note of Grand Cherokee’s reclining rear seatbacks, which means that the gain in rear seat comfort comes at the expense of cargo space.  He used the seatback angle that best accommodated his child's car seat as a guide for the seatback angle setting. This is a nice feature to have whenever the cargo space behind the seats is not optimized. You will obviously have your own luggage group and other desired travel items. If you want to bring those along when you test drive the Jeep Grand Cherokee or any other of the crossovers and other models here at Benna Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM, please feel free to do so.

Winter Tires - Do They Make A Difference?

It’s that time of year again when the weather gets cold, and the roads are even colder. Most people get excited around this time because of Thanksgiving and Christmas. However, it is important to note that when the season changes and the temperature outside starts to drop, buyers begin to ask how important it is to invest in winter tires. It’s a question nearly as old as the automobile itself: Do winter tires actually make a difference? The answer is yes. But, some factors go into choosing the right tires for your vehicle that will be driven in winter conditions. Temperature Differences Living in an area where it is normal for the daily temperature to be 40 degrees or lower and have a good amount of snowfall, that’s when you know it’s time to buy some winter tires. In contrast, an all-season tire that is rated for snow will be better suited for climates where it dips into the freezing territory but hovers above 40 degrees. They can operate well in 20-30 degrees, but winter tires will allow for safer maneuverability and better braking performance even when it's 0 degrees outside. What About AWD Without Winter Tires? If you drive a Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, or Ram with all-wheel drive, some people will probably tell you, “Oh, you have all-wheel drive, the weather is no big deal.” No, this is simply not correct. While you have a vehicle with four wheels actively receiving power at the same time, it does not mean the traction of that vehicle will be any better if you have the wrong tires on your car. If anything, it can make things more difficult. When it loses traction, the car will try to put power to the correct wheel(s). However, all of the wheels are attempting to get traction simultaneously, which has the potential for disaster. A dedicated winter tire can help your car stop up to 30 feet shorter on a snowy road at 30 mph compared to an all-season tire, according to testing from Tire Rack. That distance is probably tripled or quadrupled when compared to a summer tire that isn’t rated for snow. Cold Roads, Worse Performance Summer tires are great for performance and sporty driving, but they get hard and take longer to warm up in temperatures below 40 degrees, making them unsafe. All-season tires are better in colder weather, and some can even handle a little snowy driving. Regular ambient temperatures below 20 and more than small amounts of snow will take their toll on all-seasons. Anything other than a dedicated winter tire will feel like you are driving on glass. Which Winter Tire For My Car? Like any other tire, winter tires have different specifications and types. If you have an SUV, truck, or sedan, you will be looking at a standard studless winter tire. If you live in mountainous areas where roads can stay packed with snow and ice for days or weeks at a time, you may want to look at buying studded tires, as they are going to provide much-needed grip with their small metal spikes/studs that can dig into the surface for improved traction. If you have a Charger or Challenger, for instance, then you’ll want to check out some high-performance winter tires that will suit the driving characteristics of your performance vehicle. At Benna Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, we offer our customers some of the best prices and services. With dozens of new and used vehicles to choose from, our outstanding sales team and finance department will work hard to make sure you drive away happy. Direct Connection Announces High-Performance Crate Engines at SEMA

In addition to disrupting vehicle production, another unfortunate consequence of the recent strike was that Stellantis canceled its display at the 2023 Specialty Equipment Marketing Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas. That is a shame because Dodge clearly had plans to show something that would show a path toward EV performance. Nevertheless, Benna Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram is happy to announce that Dodge’s Direct Connection parts division showed that they are not about to leave petrol performance behind with the announcement of the Hellephant C170 HEMI crate engine as well as several other high-performance crate engines previously seen in recent Dodge Challenger and Charger performance models. The Hellephant C170 gets the top billing as it is nothing less than the same engine under the hood of the Dodge Challenger SRT 170, the last of the “Last Call” series of special Challengers and Chargers and the most powerful muscle car ever sold by a manufacturer. Yes, the Hellephant C170 is the same 6.2-liter HEMI V8 that could produce 1,025 horsepower and peak torque of 945 lb-ft. @ 4,200 when run on E85 ethanol blend.  With an E10 blend, it is rated at 900 horsepower and 810 lb-ft of peak torque. Our Commitment During Shortages and Delays

A lot has changed in the last few years. While many parts of our lives have returned to normal, some things remain constant for the auto industry: shortages and delays. If you’ve been on the market for a new vehicle or need certain parts or repairs, you’ve probably noticed a massive shortage and increased wait times for service. At Benna CDJR, we understand how  frustrating it can be to wait. In fact, we’ve been waiting, too! That’s why we’re here for you during these difficult times to make things just a little bit easier in any way we can. Working Together Why exactly is the auto industry still so affected by shortages and delays? The answer is more complicated than it might seem. Although things might be returning to normal around the world, there’s a lot of production to catch up on. Supplies need to be shipped and parts must be manufactured. However, shipping delays are also affecting timelines as companies struggle to find enough workers. Almost every industry is running short on drivers, warehouse employees, and logistics as they try to catch up.  All of that translates to vehicle production. Manufacturers wait on their parts, work with fewer employees, and deal with delays in shipments as dealerships wait patiently for new vehicles to arrive. The Benna CDJR Promise As we all work with circumstances beyond our control, there is one thing we can guarantee, and that’s our commitment to our customers. Since there’s only so much we can do, the entire Benna CDJR team is dedicated to going above and beyond to show you, our customers, just how much we value you. While you wait on parts or in-transit vehicles, we promise to keep you in the loop as much as possible with updates as soon as we receive them. We’re here to help you in any way possible. While you wait, please feel free to browse our research information to find your next new vehicle. Take a look at what we already have here in Superior, WI, including our inventory of pre-owned vehicles. We can also help you get ahead by placing a factory order or securing financing to reduce any waits. Our team is in this together with you, so contact us today to let us know what we can do to best serve you!

Kaiser Jeep SEMA Concept

Mopar Brought Cool New Concepts to SEMA

Did you miss the Speciality Equipment Market Association show in Las Vegas earlier this month? You may have heard it called SEMA. And, for the automotive industry, it’s a show worth going to! While the attendees from the automotive trade looked at the latest in parts and accessories, Mopar showed a few concepts and the latest accessories for both current and concept vehicles. They certainly pulled out all of the stops down in Las Vegas! more Cool Jeeps Jeep offered up four concepts at SEMA. The Jeep Wrangler 4xe concept showcased the icon’s off-roading side while promoting the efficiency of the plug-in hybrid driveline. This concept uses a vast array of Jeep Performance Parts, from a two-inch lift kit for the suspension to bumpers, Gorilla Glass, tube doors, Katzkin leather seats, and so forth. This is topped off with a set of BFGoodrich 37-inch tires mounted on Beadlock wheels for maximum grip on the rocks. One concept that intrigued us was the Jeep Wrangler Overlook concept. This extended length Wrangler Unlimited Sahara and adds a third row, plus additional cargo space. The rear part of the roof was raised with “safari glass” above. This concept is equipped with its own set of Jeep Performance Parts, including a two-inch lift kit and a Tailgate Reinforcement System, and an Oversized Spare Tire Carrier Modification Kit. The new Grand Cherokee L also got the SEMA treatment with its Breckenridge concept. This luxurious concept is painted with a two-tone Magnetite matte/metallic and gloss-black paint scheme with satin bronze accents. Mopar installed a set of five-spoke 21-inch alloy wheels. Mopar also adds interior accents, such as stainless-steel pedal covers with black rubber pad to make this luxurious interior pop even more. Rounding out Jeep’s SEMA offerings is the Kaiser Jeep M725 concept. This may remind you of the old Gladiator pickups from the 1960s, crossed with their military counterpart. It is powered by a Mopar 392 Crate HEMI® V-8 engine linked to a vintage TorqueFlite 727 automatic transmission. This combination delivers 485 horsepower and 475 lb.-ft. of torque. It serves as a support vehicle for off-road adventures, while capable of its own excursions into the rough country. Ram Tough! Ram brought two concepts to SEMA. The Ram 1500 TRX RexRunner wears a host of Mopar accessories and custom parts making it more aggressive than your average run-of-the-mill TRX. This concept includes custom metal skid plates that feature laser-etched Mopar lettering and protect the front and rear underside areas of the truck. The use of the front skid plate helps to increase the approach angle by 2.3 degrees up to 32.5 degrees. This is helped by a set of 37-inch Goodyear tires riding on 18-by-9-inch Black Rhino Chamber wheels. Ram also brought their 1500 Outdoorsman concept, designed for those who work and play hard. Based on a Big Horn 4X4 Crew Cab pickup truck, the Outdoorsman features a custom two-height position aluminum Mopar bed rack system runs the full width of the truck bed and safely carries items, such as ladders and plywood for work or a kayak, oars, fishing poles or a mountain bike for play. Mounted to the floor of the truck bed, a modified Expertec bed-slide system provides dual rolling panels - each rated at 2,000 pounds - for easy loading and unloading of tools, gear, and equipment. Each sliding panel carries custom T-track rails and mounts to secure items. The bed floor is protected with a durable Mopar spray-in bedliner. Dodge Boys Lastly, SEMA provided the dip. Dodge created the Challenger Holy Guacamole concept with an amazing green paint job that makes it delicious. Based on an R/T Scat Pack Widebody 50th Anniversary Edition, the concept brings back several heritage elements to this modern muscle machine. If the Shaker hood scoop doesn’t draw you in, a set of 20-inch Forgeline wheels and a Mopar coil-over suspension lowering kit will. The interior receives wood panel trim and sport green and yellow plaid upholstery on the seats and door panels. Want to make your own custom creation with your Mopar vehicle? The parts department at Superior Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram can assist you in creating your own special vehicle by facilitating ordering you Mopar parts and accessories along with Jeep Performance Parts.
