2024 Easter Jeep Safari Concept Vehicles

Easter Jeep Safari Wrap-Up

Every year in the spring, around Easter, Jeep and their loyal fans head to Moab, Utah, to begin the festivities of the Easter Jeep Safari. In 2024, it was the 58th time that Jeep enthusiasts and Jeep employees got together. Designers create their dream vision of various Jeep products to show off and get some input and inspiration from the fans on future accessories and styling features they like. This year, four unique concepts were used to show off the extraordinary creativity of the Jeep designers. Jeep Vacationeer Concept This vehicle's wild and custom Spearminted exterior color helps it stand out in any crowd. Custom flared wheel extensions help show off the 35-inch BFGoodrich mud-terrain tires mounted around 18-inch 701 Method racing wheels. Thanks to the wheels and tires, the Vactioneer gets a 1.5-inch lift and unique front and rear skid plates to protect everything underneath. A Warn winch mounted to the front can help give anyone a tow, including yourself, and three 11-inch TYRI LED lights sit on the roof to provide extra light in those nighttime off-roading situations. The 3.0-liter twin-turbo Hurricane inline-6 helps the Vactioneer Concept get moving with its 510 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque. The second and third-row seats have been taken out in order to add a section on the roof for climbing into the tent. On top of the roof is a carbon fiber RedTail Overland Skyloft with climate control, enough space for two people, and panoramic viewing ability. Designer and Wagoneer enthusiast, Kiel James Patrick, tackled the front seats and gave them a special design that features classic Jeep vehicles within the pattern. “For over three decades, the Jeep Wagoneer has been more than just a vehicle to me; it has literally been part of the fabric of my life threaded through my most cherished journeys,” said Patrick. “As a designer and lifelong Jeep 4x4 owner, this was a dream project. I could not be more excited to honor the heritage and stories of the Jeep brand.” Jeep Wrangler Low-Down Concept To honor the Wrangler Lower 40 that debuted at the 43rd Safari, this year saw the creation of the Jeep Wrangler Low Down Concept. Where the Lower 40 featured 40-inch wheels, this concept sees 42-inch BFGoodrich Krawler 42x14.5R20 mud-terrain tires with 20-inch beadlock wheels and carbon fiber fender flares. Underneath, keeps the stock Rubicon 392 suspension since it’s already plenty capable. However, Dana 60 axles and 5.38 gears take over for the standard Dana 44 axles with 4.10 gears. The paint is Poison Apple Red, and the hood features a custom carbon fiber with a see-through power dome to show off the glorious 392. Inside, you will find black leather with cloth insert seats, Rhino-lined floors, and a radio-delete panel. Jeep Gladiator Rubicon High Top Concept The custom Ginger Snap metallic exterior paint is the first thing that stands out on the High Top Concept, as it looks like an ‘80s rock crawler. It rides on 40x13/5R18 BFGoodrich all-terrain T/A KO3 tires with 18-inch Satin Black KMC Grenade Crawl beadlock wheels. Much like the Low Down Concept, the High Top features Dana 60 axles with 5.38 gears. However, all to its own is the AccuAir adjustable air suspension that helps make tackling the Moab seem like child’s play. Under the hood is the venerable 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 with an 8-speed automatic transmission. A tweaked American Expedition Vehicles front bumper with a Warn winch makes this Gladiator even more capable than it already was. A DECKED truck bed storage system gives the truck bed lockable sliding drawers. Inside, you will find retrimmed seats with custom quilting with perforated tan and black Alea leather with embossed JPP logos. JPP are the design and engineering teams from Mopar. Willys Dispatcher Concept The Willys Dispatcher Concept is a little bit of old meets new. First and foremost, the Willys Dispatcher is powered by the 2.0-liter plug-in hybrid 4xe powertrain with 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. The Willys features an Element 115 Green paint job. Dana 50 Advantech front and rear axles and 4.70 gears give power to the Super Traxion 36-inch tires with 16-inch steelie-style wheels. On the hood is “WILLYS” embossed on either side, and an 8274 Warn winch is attached to a custom classic-style front bumper with a Warn Epic Series winch hook and D rings. To round things out, the interior is retrimmed in distressed saddle leather and houndstooth cloth inserts, and the headrests have been removed for an old-school vibe. An air compressor comes with the Dispatcher Concept to help control tired pressures. At Benna Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, we offer our customers some of the best prices and services. Jeep Wrangler Family

Significant Updates For the 2024 Wrangler

There are countless crossover models and quite a few SUVs, and then there is the Wrangler. The Wrangler stands apart as it has always been designed with off-roading ability as the highest priority while still offering everything needed for an on-road vehicle.  The Wrangler had some very significant updates for the 2024 model year, and since they may not be evident at first glance, Benna CDJR wants you to know what they are. Slightly New Face Wrangler owners are as unique as their vehicle choice.  To start, they don’t really want the Wrangler to change that much in appearance.  So, while the face of the Wrangler has been updated, it is still instantly recognizable as a Wrangler with the trademark 7-slot grille and round headlights. The new shorter front fascia allows for more flexibility in front bumpers, including one on the Rubicon X, which can accommodate a factory installable 8,000-pound capacity Warn winch with up to a 100:1 crawl ratio. Enhanced Capability The Rubicon X also has a new Dana 44 HD full float solid rear axle that allows for tire upsizing by customers and up to 5,000-pound maximum towing. The axle design consists of a wheel hub assembly that is separate from the axle shaft, with a spindle bolted to the axle tube that supports the wheel hub via a pair of wheel bearings. The result is that the vehicle weight is transferred to the axle tube rather than the axle shaft itself, so the axle shaft is subjected only to torsional loads, with its sole function being to transmit power to the wheel hub. It also means the Rubicon X 4-door with the 2.0-liter or 36-liter powertrain now comes with standard 35-inch tires, a first for the Wrangler. New for the Willys grade is a Tru-Lok rear locking differential, steel rock rails, trailer tow, heavy-duty electrical group, and larger 33-inch tires (replacing previous 32-inch tires). The Willys 4xe also adds the Selec-Trac full-time transfer case with a 4LO ratio of 2.72:1. All Wranglers are convertibles in one way or another. The most straightforward means of open-air driving comes from the Sky One-Touch power top, which is now standard on the High Altitude model. This nearly full-length power cloth sunroof opens the cabin skyward with a simple button push. A Big New Touchscreen and Other Upgrades Standard on all new models is a revised dash featuring a 12.3-inch touchscreen.  Behind the screen is the critically acclaimed Uconnect 5 infotainment system augmented by wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Giving you something new to look at on that big screen is the factory application of Trails Offroad, which offers comprehensive off-road trail guides for the 62 Jeep ® Badge of Honor trails across the country. Though there are no Badge of Honor trails in Wisconsin or Minnesota as of yet, Michigan has the South Marble Head Loop and Holly Oands ORV Park. The inclusion of Badge of Honor Trails is standard, but a subscription offers Trail Offroad’s complete catalog of over 3,000 off-road trails, all of which can be followed on the big touchscreen. Two New Models The Wrangler model line also expands for 2024. The Rubicon X enhances the already capable Rubicon with the aforementioned 35-inch tires, steel bumpers, and an integrated off-road camera. Also new, the Sport S 4xe brings a lower entry price point for what is already the best-selling plug-in hybrid in the US. Newly available on all 4xe models is the Jeep power box that allows the 4xe battery to power external devices with four 120-volt outlets and 30 amps of total output. The Wrangler remains a unique vehicle with a rich past. It is more refined than it has ever been, but still keeps rugged capabilities that could hold it back from a luxury category.  But that is the sacrifice for having a whole world of non-paved surfaces to explore that other crossovers and SUVs can only view from a distance. If that sounds like the ride for you, check out the many Wrangler grades and configurations at Benna Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram.

2025 RAM 1500 On the Road

2025 Ram 1500 and the More Powerful, More Fuel-efficient Hurricane Engine Family

It was November 2023 when the 2025 Ram 1500 was unveiled. In addition to an updated appearance and new technology, the truck line will introduce a new 3.0-liter Hurricane engine family that increases standard horsepower, and performance as well as improved fuel efficiency. Benna CDJR looks forward to this new truck’s arrival, as will anyone in the greater Superior area interested in a more powerful truck. The Inline-Six Returns Find a car guy with gray hair, and he’ll tell you about the iconic, bullet-proof “slant-six” in 60s and 70s Dodge and Plymouth models. The two 3.0-liter Hurricane engines joining the current 3.6-liter V6 in the RAM 1500 family marks the return of the Mopar inline-6, though now in a more sophisticated and turbocharged form. The switch to an inline configuration brings about several advantages. V-6s are popular because they are short, making them easy to package, particularly when mounted transversely for front-wheel drive models.  But length is not an issue when mounted in a North-South position in a full-size pickup, and the inline-6 configuration enables several advantages. Among these is lower vibration through inherently better engine balancing. An inline-6’s pistons move in tandem with their mirror image on the opposite end of the block, So when pistons 1 and 6 are at top-dead-center, 2 and 5 are spaced at 120 degrees and 3 and 4 at 240 degrees. Each piston pair are two strokes apart (combustion matched by intake and compression matched by exhaust), which means an entirely even firing order resulting in an inherently smooth operation. This eliminates the need for balance shafts or extensive counterweighting that can sap power. There is also a single head instead of two and just two overhead camshafts instead of four. There is also greater room around the engine, making it easier to work on. The all-new 3.0-liter Hurricane engine is rated at 420 horsepower and 469 lb.-ft. of torque. A High Output version will produce 540 horsepower and 521 lb.-ft. of torque. All engines will be combined with a TorqueFlight 8-speed automatic transmission. 3.21, 3.55, or 3.92 axle ratios will allow customers to prioritize fuel economy and vehicle capability according to their needs. Maximum towing capacity is estimated at 11,580 pounds, with a maximum payload at 2,300 pounds. The Ram 1500 will continue with the double-wishbone front suspension and five-link solid rear axle that has brought it accolades across the industry. A class-exclusive, active-level, four-corner air suspension will be available. The system will be adjustable with five different modes: entry/exit, aero, normal, off-road 1, and off-road 2. “The new 2025 Ram 1500 brings our customers more: more power, more performance, and more fuel efficiency with our all-new 3.0-liter Hurricane engines,” said Tim Kuniskis, Ram brand CEO – Stellantis. “ With a choice of new and proven gas engines or our upcoming electric truck offerings, Ram is built to serve truck buyers everywhere. Our new powertrain offerings add to the unique combination of bold styling, leading-edge innovation, and technology, durability and capability Ram customers have come to know and love.” A Design Befitting Its Sophistication and Capability The styling is sleeker and more aerodynamic, while still presenting Ram’s bold, heroic presence with a new forward-leaning grille that will have eight different variations depending on the trim level. New premium LED headlamps, with twin bi-functional projector headlamps, are found on Limited and above trims and are matched by new LED tail lights with a jeweled appearance that is standard across the lineup. The 2025 Ram 1500 will be available in Tradesman, Big Horn/Lone Star, Laramie, Rebel, Limited Longhorn, Limited, and the all-new Tungsten trim levels. Features among the trim levels include: Tradesman will come standard with a 12-inch Uconnect screen Bighorn/Lone Star features a new Gridiron paint with laser etching decorative trim accents on the dashboard, doors, and console and a new Gear Embossed seat insert accent material in Diesel Gray or black Laramie features new Chevron film decorative trim accents and introduces a new optional Bison Brown/Sea Salt Gray two-tone interior in addition to the standard black interior Rebel features a new red/black ombre mesh insert material on the standard cloth/vinyl seats Limited Longhorn features the new Barn Wood 45 open pore real wood veneer with an improved saw cut effect. Longhorn is exclusively available with the all-new Bison Brown monochromatic interior and massaging front seats Limited features new Black Ebony open pore real wood veneer decorative trim accents. A new optional black/ebony red interior color package with massaging front seats will be available. Range-topping Tungsten model will feature real metal and leather interior trim, a 14.5-inch Unconnect display, and a segment-first 12.3.-inch front passenger display. Its standard 1,228-watt 23-speaker Klipsch Reference Premiere audio system is the most powerful truck audio system in the industry. Other new tech features include a 12.3 gauge cluster, dual wireless phone charging, a digital rearview mirror with tow-mode, a full-color 10-inch Head-Up Display, and a new Hands-Free driving assist system, just to name a few. Coming This Spring Already considered the best-in-class light-duty pickup truck by several sources, including J.D. Power, the 2025 Ram 1500 model line will up the game even further. The first 2025 RAM 1500 models can be expected to fill the Benna CDJR inventory in the first quarter of 2024. The High Output Hurricane engine is expected in the third quarter of 2025. If this sounds like a truck for you, be sure to have one of our sales professionals when the first models arrive.

Texas Truck Rodeo

Ram and Jeep Brands Earn Top Honors at TAWA Rodeo

We’ve all heard the old adage: “Everything’s bigger in Texas”. Ask any Texan, and they will tell you that Texas is big. Big enough that they not only have their own Auto Writers Association (TAWA), but an association big enough to meet each fall for their annual Texas Truck Rodeo. Here they evaluate all varieties of new trucks and SUVs. At the end, they name winners in multiple categories. This year Stellantis’ truck-focused Ram brand and SUV-focused Jeep brand took home nine awards, which was more than any other manufacturer at the competition. “Ram trucks brought their A-game again this year, winning several consecutive awards, including the Full-size Pickup Truck of Texas, and scoring the highest for overall personal appeal, which is significant because Texas is the truck capital of the US,” said Teia Collier, TAWA president. “We also enjoyed the lineup from the Jeep brand, with several vehicles that were the stars of their categories offering incredible performance, craftsmanship and capability.” 32 TAWA members spent a weekend in late September at Eagle Canyon Raceway in Decatur, Texas, taking trucks and SUVs on the road, off the road, and on the track to evaluate competing vehicles side-by-side. Consideration is given to everything from exterior/interior styling and off-road capability, to the entrant’s overall utility, value, and performance. The Nine awards taken home by Jeep and Ram were: Full-Size Pickup Truck: 2023 Ram 1500 Off-Road Pickup Truck: 2023 Ram 1500 TRX Luxury Pickup Truck: 2023 Ram 1500 Limited Heavy Duty Truck: 2023 Ram Heavy Duty Rebel Highest Personal Appeal: 2023 Ram 1500 Mid-Size SUV: 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Off-Road SUV: 2024 Jeep Wrangler Best Performance: 2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 Best Feature Award: Stellantis Uconnect 5 Nav System They didn’t have snow or an opportunity to give the heating systems or heated seats a workout, but pretty much everything else they did can relate to what we put our trucks through here in the dairy state. If you are looking for a mid-size truck, heavy-duty truck, a capable SUV, or even just a great infotainment system, you will find the winners right here at Benna Dodge Chrysler Jeep and Ram.

2024 RAM 1500

Ram 1500 named a Car and Driver 10 Best

Decades ago, the rent-a-car business competed as heavily in advertising as the auto insurance trade does now. Hertz was the undisputed leader and made sure everyone knew, so Avis came up with a long-running campaign proudly stating, “We’re number Two! We try harder!” Well, Ram (formerly Dodge) has been number 3 in sales under Ford and Chevrolet in light-duty pickup trucks, and Car and Driver seems convinced that being number three means they try even harder. And succeed in doing so. That appears to be the theme as they describe why they have again named the Ram 1500 among their 10 Best Trucks and SUVs, something the Ram 1500 has done every year since the 2019 introduction of the current design. They first point out the broadness of the Ram 1500 lineup from the no-frills Tradesman work trucks to “ luxe Limiteds with interiors to rival a Range Rover”. The publication is also a big fan of the available air springs for all four wheels, which can lower the body on the highway or raise it for off-road use. They additionally call out the multi-hinge tailgate and its useful ability to swing out on either side as well as work in a conventional manner. Their summation: “Everywhere you look, there's evidence of creative thinking and the license to chase ideas that don't fit pickup preconceptions.” Car and Driver also points out that the Ram never forgets that it is a truck and trucks should work hard. They praise the available RAMBox that allows you to store your tools securely without infringing on bed space. And they don’t overlook that when properly equipped, the Ram 1500 can tow over 12,000 pounds. It isn’t lost on Car and Driver that they bestowed this honor on the 2024 Ram 1500 even as it is at the end of its life cycle, and there are big changes planned for the 2025 model, including a pair of turbocharged inline-6 engines, a plug-in hybrid version, new interior, and hands-free highway driving. Not being the top in sales doesn’t mean you aren’t the best. Just think of some number-one TV shows you didn’t watch, but everyone else did. Trucks are what Ram does, and they will keep being creative, make the best trucks they can, build their fan base and accept awards. As Car and Driver points out, they make a truck for everyone, including you, and you can find it at Benna Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Superior, WI.

Both vehicles feature an 8-speed automatic transmission. Depending on the axle ratio and having 2WD or 4WD, the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer are able to tow from 5,870 lbs up to 10,000 lbs. Long Wheelbase The long wheelbase Wagoneer L and Grand Wagoneer L are 12 inches longer and have a wheelbase that is 7 inches longer than the standard wheelbase SUVs. Best Family-Friendly Tech As mentioned earlier, the Wagoneer was also awarded the Best Family-Friendly Technology and Best Passenger Ecosystem. The Wagoneer models feature a heads-up display, frameless digital gauge cluster, premium McIntosh sound system, a 10.25-inch interactive display for the front passenger, Amazon Fire TV built into the rear 10.1-inch screens, and a total of 75 inches of digital screen area. Rear passengers also get their own climate controls, along with Relax Mode, which uses the front screens to display soothing videos of the Aurora Borealis, a fireplace fire, among others, while also playing relaxing audio. Best Passenger Ecosystem When evaluating the Best Passenger Ecosystem, Newsweek looks at the ride and comfort of an interior for all passengers, not just the driver and front passenger. When commenting about why the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer by Jeep won the award, they said, “The Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer feature couch-like ride quality on top of supple, multi-way power-adjustable front seats. Passengers in the front and back can have their own screens complete with streaming options from Amazon and Netflix. The sliding second-row seats have heating and ventilation capabilities, and their passengers get their own temperature controls. Cargo space is expansive, especially in L versions of the model, and controls feature a high level of design finery. The cabin keeps road and vehicle noise at bay.” At Benna Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, we offer our customers some of the best prices and services. I had such a great time, and I am so excited for my next trip!” Customer 2 “My biggest concern about going out to a new trail is if my Gladiator can handle the terrain. With the Jeep® Badge of Honor App, I can read reviews of the trails from fellow Jeepers. This helped me determine what trails I can take my stock Jeep® out on or if any modifications are needed. I know I can have a good time and be confident that I won’t be turning around.” Customer 3 “I have always used my Jeep® as my daily driver. One day my friends said ‘Why do you have a Jeep and never take it off road?” I could only reply with “I have never thought about it”. So, I nervously took my favorite vehicle out  but was very surprised by the capability of my Wrangler. We went through mud, fields, and even into a creek! I loved every minute of that trip, and thanks to the Badge of Honor App, I have already volunteered to set up our next ride!” Have You Downloaded Your Badge of Honor App Yet? What’s New For 2024 Dodge Hornet

Dodge entered the popular compact crossover segment this past year with the introduction of the 2023 Dodge Hornet.  2023 models arrived in the Benna Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram inventory late in the 2023 model year.  In typical Dodge fashion, they brought to the segment its most powerful gas engine and a distinct performance focus to its overall design.  Now come the 2024 models, which add the Hornet R/T. This plug-in hybrid represents the first-ever electrified vehicle from Dodge and the most powerful model in the Hornet lineup. Bringing Performance to the Compact Crossover Segment The Hornet GT and GT Plus carry one with the Hurricane4 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 connected to a 9-speed automatic transmission. It is the segment’s most powerful gas engine producing 268 horsepower and 295 lb.-ft. of torque. EPA-estimated city/highway/combined MPG is 21/29/24. For 2024, the Hornet lineup adds the R/T and R/T Plus plug-in hybrid models. The engine is a 1.3-liter turbocharged inline-4 connected to a 6-speed automatic that powers the front wheels. Powering the rear wheels is a 90-kW electric motor that receives its energy from a 15.5-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Combined, the engine and motor produce 288 horsepower and 383 lb-ft. of torque. The model provides an estimated 32 miles of electric-only range. So if your daily round-trip commute is within that distance, the Hornet R/T can be a daily electric vehicle.  After the electric range is depleted, there remains battery power to assist the engine.  The Hornet R/T is rated at 77 MPGe and has a total range of 360 miles. The “Head of Hive” 2024 Dodge Hornet R/T carries extra sting with a class-exclusive, on-demand PowerShot feature that supplies a 15-second burst of 30 horsepower, enabling a run from 0 to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds, while the Dodge Hornet GT reaches 0 to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds in Sport Mode. Hornet performance goes beyond mere acceleration. All models in the lineup feature standard Koni shocks and Brembo four-piston brake calipers. The models also include torque vectoring to assist in fast curves, and of course, all R/T models feature all-wheel drive. Activated by a steering wheel button, the Hornet GT features a Sport Mode, which increases throttle response, shifts at higher rpm, tightens steering wheel feel, and provides a stiffer suspension setting if equipped with Dual Stage Valve shocks.  The Hornet R/T offers Sport Mode and three hybrid driving modes: Hybrid, Electric, and E-Save Hybrid Mode: Provides maximum combined efficiency of the engine and motor, minimizing fuel consumption by setting electric priority until a minimum battery level is met Electric Mode: Offers an all-electric, zero-emission mode, and automatically switches to hybrid when the battery is depleted or when extra power is requested by driver pedal kick-down E-Save Mode: Gives priority to the conventional engine to preserve battery charge, possibly to save for city driving when all-electric propulsion is its most efficient.  The Passive option maintains the existing charge, while the Active option will recharge the battery as you drive. Sport Mode: Activated by a dedicated button on the center console, this produces sharper throttle response, higher shift points, access to the hybrid system’s optimized power and torque, as well as a tighter steering feel. The Hornet R/T also recharges the battery from regenerative braking and coasting from the throttle lift. The regenerative braking also reduces brake wear. Packaging All Hornets are equipped with a 12.3-inch Digital TFT Cluster, 10.25-inch center touchscreen and dual-zone automatic climate control wireless phone connectivity, and blind spot warning, among other features.  Also standard is Active Driving Assist which includes Distance Pacing Cruise Control, and lane centering. Besides the drivetrain, additional standard features on the R/T model include: Heated front seats 8-way power driver seat with 3-way memory Driver-side auto-dimming mirror Remote start system The R/T Plus adds: Full leather seating surfaces 8-way power passenger seat Ventilated front seats Sunroof Harmon Kardon sound system Hands-free power liftgate The GT Plus basically adds all of the additional R/T and R/T Plus features. Three packages are available on both Hornet R/T and GT: The Blacktop Package brings to life an automotive version of a “murder Hornet” with a blacked appearance including: 18-inch Abyss alloy wheels Gloss Black badging and mirror caps Gloss Black painted daylight opening (DLO) molding The Track Pack offers the most performance-oriented configuration with: 20-inch Abyss wheels Dual Stage Valve Suspension Alcantara sport seats Aluminum interior accents and pedals Red brake calipers The Tech Pack builds on the Active Driver Assist system by adding: Highway Assist Traffic Sign Recognition Intelligent Speed Assist Drowsy Driver Detection Front-park sensors ParkView 360 camera Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist The Hornet shows that as Dodge enters a new era of electrified and even EVs, Dodge's performance values remain steadfast.  It is obvious yet meaningful to call the Hornet the Dodge of compact crossovers. To see all of what that means, pay a visit to Benna Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and experience the Hornet for yourself.

Stellantis Emergency Vehicle Alert System (EVAS) Message

What is the Stellantis Emergency Vehicle Alert System?

Through both design and soundproofing materials, considerable attention has gone into models under the Stellantis brand to keep road, wind, and other unwanted noise out of the cabin. In addition, models have been equipped with sound systems to play your favorite tunes from base systems, scaling all the way up to the incredible McIntosh audio system in the Jeep Grand Cherokee model line. The challenge is that there are some sounds from outside that you are meant to hear. The whole point of emergency vehicle sirens is to alert others on the road of their presence. EVAS Gets the message Through to You Stellantis’ solution to this paradox is the Emergency Vehicle Alert System (EVAS) which uses Uconnect to alert drivers when emergency vehicles or roadway hazards are nearby. EVAS has been a standard feature of Uconnect on all models since the 2018 model year and thus is already on 1.8 million Chrysler, Dodge, Ram, and Jeep ® brand vehicles in the United States and Canada. In other words, any new car Benna CDJR has sold for the past five years. EVAS works by integrating with the HAAS Alert Safety Cloud, the nation’s largest vehicle-to-everything (V2X) platform for digital alerting. How it works is that emergency vehicles, as well as tow trucks and work zones, send a V2X signal into the Safety Cloud, which then sends it to any vehicle that can receive it, to notify its driver of their presence. That alert cuts through the vehicle’s soundproofing and pauses the audio system with an audio beep accompanied by an explanation on the infotainment display. The system can often inform you if the emergency vehicle is ahead or behind you. “The widespread deployment of EVAS in North America demonstrates how Stellantis is harnessing the power of V2X connectivity and in-vehicle technology to make mobility safer for our customers,” said Yves Bonnefont, Stellantis chief software officer. “ Care for our customers that is second to none in every market where we sell is the foundation of our transformation to a mobility tech company. We’re proud to be the first global automaker to make V2X digital alerting a standard safety feature for our connected customers, and we are continuously looking to expand its capabilities.” HELP is on the Way The next step in the process will be what is known as Hazard Enhanced Location Protocol (HELP) in which a disabled vehicle can send a notice of its location to the HASS Alert Safety Cloud, which transmits a notice to vehicles in the same manner as EVAS. This will give drivers about 15-20 seconds of advance warning of the disabled vehicle’s location, which is roughly a quarter mile at highway speeds. Just consider how useful this can be in a heavy storm or thick fog when vehicles may have had an incident but, even with hazard lights, may not be visible until they are very and possibly too close. HELP can be activated manually by the driver when the vehicle is stationary or automatically in safety-critical situations, such as collisions or tire blowouts. It is possible it could be activated automatically when the hazard lights are activated. “Technology we offer today helps set the stage for future vehicle innovations,” said Mamatha Chamarthi, Stellantis head of global software business management. “It begins with the foundation that safety should come standard. It grows from there to offer owners convenience features on demand when they connect, enroll and subscribe. These software capabilities result in an enhanced and highly valued customer experience with our iconic brands.” As mentioned, EVAS has been on Stellantis vehicles since the 2018 model year, and many owners may not have been aware of it until they received their first alert and then wondered how that alert happened. HELP has not been fully developed as of yet, but look for it on future models from Benna CDJR.
