2025 Ram 1500 and the More Powerful, More Fuel-efficient Hurricane Engine Family

2025 RAM 1500 On the Road

It was November 2023 when the 2025 Ram 1500 was unveiled. In addition to an updated appearance and new technology, the truck line will introduce a new 3.0-liter Hurricane engine family that increases standard horsepower, and performance as well as improved fuel efficiency. Benna CDJR looks forward to this new truck’s arrival, as will anyone in the greater Superior area interested in a more powerful truck.

The Inline-Six Returns

Find a car guy with gray hair, and he’ll tell you about the iconic, bullet-proof “slant-six” in 60s and 70s Dodge and Plymouth models. The two 3.0-liter Hurricane engines joining the current 3.6-liter V6 in the RAM 1500 family marks the return of the Mopar inline-6, though now in a more sophisticated and turbocharged form. The switch to an inline configuration brings about several advantages.

V-6s are popular because they are short, making them easy to package, particularly when mounted transversely for front-wheel drive models.  But length is not an issue when mounted in a North-South position in a full-size pickup, and the inline-6 configuration enables several advantages. Among these is lower vibration through inherently better engine balancing. An inline-6’s pistons move in tandem with their mirror image on the opposite end of the block, So when pistons 1 and 6 are at top-dead-center, 2 and 5 are spaced at 120 degrees and 3 and 4 at 240 degrees. Each piston pair are two strokes apart (combustion matched by intake and compression matched by exhaust), which means an entirely even firing order resulting in an inherently smooth operation. This eliminates the need for balance shafts or extensive counterweighting that can sap power. There is also a single head instead of two and just two overhead camshafts instead of four. There is also greater room around the engine, making it easier to work on.

The all-new 3.0-liter Hurricane engine is rated at 420 horsepower and 469 lb.-ft. of torque. A High Output version will produce 540 horsepower and 521 lb.-ft. of torque. All engines will be combined with a TorqueFlight 8-speed automatic transmission. 3.21, 3.55, or 3.92 axle ratios will allow customers to prioritize fuel economy and vehicle capability according to their needs. Maximum towing capacity is estimated at 11,580 pounds, with a maximum payload at 2,300 pounds.

The Ram 1500 will continue with the double-wishbone front suspension and five-link solid rear axle that has brought it accolades across the industry. A class-exclusive, active-level, four-corner air suspension will be available. The system will be adjustable with five different modes: entry/exit, aero, normal, off-road 1, and off-road 2.

“The new 2025 Ram 1500 brings our customers more: more power, more performance, and more fuel efficiency with our all-new 3.0-liter Hurricane engines,” said Tim Kuniskis, Ram brand CEO – Stellantis. “With a choice of new and proven gas engines or our upcoming electric truck offerings, Ram is built to serve truck buyers everywhere. Our new powertrain offerings add to the unique combination of bold styling, leading-edge innovation, and technology, durability and capability Ram customers have come to know and love.”

New premium LED headlamps, with twin bi-functional projector headlamps, are found on Limited and above trims and are matched by new LED tail lights with a jeweled appearance that is standard across the lineup.

The HEMI® Is Back: Why Ram Brought Back the V8 in the 2026 Ram 1500

If you've been wondering what happened to Ram’s legendary HEMI® V8 engine - and why it’s making a comeback in the 2026 Ram 1500 - you’re not alone. At Benna Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Superior, WI, we’ve been getting tons of questions from drivers in the Twin Ports region about the HEMI’s status. Today, we’re clearing up the facts and breaking down what you need to know - from why it was discontinued to what’s new in the 2026 Ram models. Whether you're searching for a new Ram truck near Duluth, MN or just want to understand what makes the HEMI engine so iconic, we’ve got all the details down below. What Makes the Ram HEMI® Engine a Legend on the Road? When you hear “HEMI®,” you think power, performance, and pure American muscle. At Benna CDJR, we proudly offer a lineup of Ram trucks equipped with the iconic HEMI V8 engine - a true symbol of strength that has stood the test of time. But what exactly is a HEMI engine, and why is it such a big deal? Let’s break it down. What is a HEMI® Engine? “HEMI” refers to the engine’s hemispherical combustion chambers. Unlike conventional flat-head engines, the HEMI design allows for a more efficient air-fuel mix, better combustion, and improved airflow. The result? More horsepower, more torque, and greater efficiency. This design dates back decades but has been refined over the years to power heavy-duty trucks like the legendary Ram 1500, Ram 2500, and Ram 3500. Why Was the HEMI® V8 Discontinued? For the 2025 model year, Ram made a bold move by replacing the popular 5.7L HEMI® V8 in the Ram 1500 with the new 3.0L Hurricane twin-turbo inline-6 engine. As reported by Kelley Blue Book, the decision was based on: Fuel efficiency & emissions standards: As regulations tightened, Ram shifted toward more efficient, turbocharged engines. Corporate strategy: Stellantis (Ram’s parent company) focused on smaller, globalized powertrains across brands. Performance goals: The Hurricane I6 offers similar or better performance numbers with improved efficiency. While these reasons made sense on paper, loyal Ram fans and HEMI enthusiasts weren’t thrilled. The legendary V8’s powerful sound, iconic feel, and brand identity couldn’t be replaced by numbers alone. Why Ram Is Bringing Back the HEMI in 2026 In short: Ram listened to its customers - and responded. For 2026, the 5.7L HEMI® V8 engine is officially back in the Ram 1500 lineup. According to MotorTrend, Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis even admitted they had “screwed up” by removing the HEMI and brought it back is a direct result of overwhelming customer demand. This move sends a strong message: Ram understands that power, performance, and tradition still matter to truck buyers - especially here in the Northland, where capability counts year-round. What’s New with the 2026 HEMI® V8? The returning 5.7L HEMI® V8 brings back everything Ram fans love - with a few modern upgrades. ✔ Same Proven Performance: 395 horsepower 410 lb-ft of torque Paired with the eTorque mild hybrid system for better fuel economy, smoother start/stop, and added low-end torque ✔ New Styling Touches: All HEMI-equipped Ram 1500 trucks now include a new V8 badge - a bold visual statement of power and pride. As CNBC described it, the badge is a “Symbol of Protest” - a nod to how Ram listened to its most loyal fans and responded. ✔ Enhanced Exhaust & Tuning: Tuned for a more aggressive sound, giving drivers that classic V8 rumble they know and love. ✔ Available on Multiple Trims: The HEMI is now an optional upgrade, allowing more choice across trim levels like Big Horn, Laramie, and Limited. Ram 1500 with a HEMI® vs Hurricane I6: Which Is Right for You? Now that the HEMI is back, many customers are asking: which engine should I choose? Engine Horsepower Torque Fuel Efficiency Towing 5.7L HEMI® V8 395 hp 410 lb-ft Moderate Excellent 3.0L Hurricane I6 HO 540 hp 521 lb-ft Better Excellent 3.0L Hurricane I6 SO 420 hp 468 lb-ft Better Excellent The Hurricane I6 offers cutting-edge performance and improved MPG, but if you crave classic V8 power, better throttle response, and that unmistakable engine sound, the HEMI is still the go-to. At Benna CDJR, we help buyers compare both to choose the best fit for their needs - whether you're hauling gear to the job site or heading north for a weekend cabin trip. 2025 Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer Offer Lower Pricing and More Content

The Jeep Wagoneer has staked a firm hold in the full-size SUV market as a classy alternative to established competitors like the Ford Expedition, the very established Chevy Tahoe/Suburban, and its twins from GMC. Jeep now intends to conquer the segment with the simple strategy of offering more and costing less. Benna Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (CDJR) tells you more. With a starting MSRP of $59,945, the 2025 Jeep Wagoneer is the most affordable full-size SUV in the U.S. It is not just the base model that is less expensive—prices have been reduced across the model line. The Grand Wagoneer, which is equipped to take on large luxury-brand SUVs, also has more competitive pricing. Additional Wagoneer model line features include standard 20-inch aluminum wheels, Active Lane Management, and adaptive cruise control. The Grand Wagoneer model line now sees additions such as standard 22-inch aluminum wheels outside and a standard front passenger interactive display inside. The model line has also added new standard safety features such as Intersection Collision Assist (which helps prevent collisions at intersections by detecting other vehicles and providing audible and visual alerts) and Drowsy Driver Detection (which monitors the vehicle’s movement—including lane deviation and subsequent interaction—to detect possible driver fatigue). For anyone who takes road trips, a special new feature called Hands-Free Driving Assist is now available on the standard wheelbase Grand Wagoneer Series II Obsidian and Series III. This enables true hands-free driving on over 125,000 pre-mapped miles of U.S. highways. As a further enhancement, the High-Output Hurricane Twin Turbo inline-six engine, which is standard on Grand Wagoneer models, has a power increase and now produces up to 540 hp and 521 lb-ft of torque–even as it lowers emissions and maintains the same fuel economy. "Built to appeal to the heart of the full-size SUV market, the Jeep Wagoneer and Jeep Grand Wagoneer lineups are now even better equipped and more competitively priced for the 2025 model year,” said Bob Broderdorf, senior vice president of Jeep North America. “By lowering MSRPs as much as $7,000 and enhancing standard equipment, such as adaptive cruise control on the Wagoneer and a front passenger interactive display on the Grand Wagoneer, these vehicles have become even more compelling.” 2025 Wagoneers and Grand Wagoneers are expected to arrive in Benna CDJR’s inventory prior to the end of the 2024 calendar year and may be in stock by the time you read this.
