New England Journalists Name Grand Wagoneer Official Winter SUV of the Year

Benna Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram is proud to announce that Jeep’s flagship models, both the 2023 Grand Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer L, respectively, were chosen as the Official Winter SUV of the Year and Best Premium Full-Size SUV at the annual New England Motor Press Association (NEMPA) winter vehicle competition. The Grand Wagoneer has now earned the Official Winter SUV of the Year title for the second year in a row, which is every year since its introduction. The 2023 Grand Cherokee also received a class win for New England’s Best Mid-size SUV for the second year in a row. Who is NEMPA? NEMPA Journalists write for the states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. Every year from November through March, they put numerous new models through a rigorous test in New England's harsh winter weather. They then meet for a one-day testing and scoring event at NEMPA headquarters in Middleborough, Massachusetts, and announce their winners for the year. "The Grand Wagoneer topped our votes for NEMPA Winter SUV of the Year and overwhelmingly won its class,” said Clifford Atiyeh, president of the New England Motor Press Association. “ There is nothing more lavish, spacious, capable off-road, or plusher on the road than the Grand Wagoneer and its extended L model. The turbo inline-six and independent rear suspension make a large and capable SUV feel nimble and confident.” Jeep has an extended Wagoneer line that includes both the Wagoneer and longer wheelbase Wagoneer L, Grand Wagoneer, and Grand Wagoneer L.  Unlike the Cherokee and Grand Cherokee, both Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer models share their respective sizes as well as many mechanical components. The Grand Wagoneer models have a more powerful engine and land fully in the luxury vehicle category with their features and amenities. Grand Cherokee is Awarded Best Mid-size SUV Again As mentioned, the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee was also declared New England’s best  Mid-size SUV.  This continues the Grand Cherokee's legacy as the most-awarded SUV in the industry. “The last-generation Grand Cherokee was a NEMPA favorite for many years,” said Atiyeh. “ The latest Grand Cherokee builds on the Jeep brand’s success with more luxury and space. That it’s priced competitively against premium German and Japanese SUVs while offering Jeep’s legendary four-wheel-drive capability—even as a plug-in hybrid—makes the Grand Cherokee a winner.” New England Opinions Matter There are multiple regional automotive journalist associations across the country, but NEMPA particularly resonates with the Jeep brand as it represents New England’s harsh winters and varied terrain, much like we find here in northern Wisconsin.  These, of course, are the very conditions Jeeps are designed to conquer. “We know from experience that New England winters can be the most extreme with snow and treacherous driving conditions,” said Jim Morrison, senior vice president and head of Jeep brand North America. “ To have the respected members of the New England Motor Press honor the Grand Wagoneer and the Grand Cherokee, and name the Grand Wagoneer the Official Winter SUV of the Year two years running, validates that our Jeep team continues to deliver the most capable SUVs both on-road, off-road and in the snow.” It is currently on the opposite side of winter as of this writing, but the season will return to Superior soon enough. If you want to see what has so impressed these Journalists for two years running, pay a visit to Benna Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and take a close look at some of the most impressive SUVs on the planet from the brand that started it all.

Jeep covered with ducks

Has Your Jeep Been “Ducked” Yet?

If you’re out on the road, you’ve probably seen by now, one, two, or maybe more Jeeps with rubber duckies on the dash. There is actually a kind meaning behind these old-school little duckies you’d typically find in a crane machine or a dollar store. As you are well aware, the pandemic put most of us in a complete life-altering state, to say the least. Finding new ways to socialize and stay busy amidst a time of worldwide shutdown was quite the challenge. Some people took up cooking and music lessons, others started hiking and discovering new hobbies…one person in particular, Allison Parliament, from Ontario, Canada, found a way to spread cheer during this dark time by simply placing a .25 cent rubber duck on or around Jeeps she would come across while she was out and about. Why Jeeps you ask? Allison had always loved Jeeps growing up. She bought her very own Jeep in 2020. And, the Jeep culture is no stranger to having their own formalities, like the two-finger Jeep wave, “It’s a Jeep Thing” language and Jeep clubs, so what’s one more? Her philosophy was quite simple. To leave a positive message in hopes of spreading kindness around the world during a time when socialization was at a standstill. This Duck, Duck, Jeep trend has since spread like wildfire (or pond water?). In less than a year, since its start in 2020, Allison’s random act of kindness has turned into a world-wide sensation. In fact, there are now over 50,000 followers on the social media pages Allison created for this specific act. People are sharing posts of their Jeeps being “ducked” from all around the world. If you want to get in on the action, there are just a few duck rules you must follow. First, you need to purchase some rubber ducks and some tags or sticky notes (Don’t forget a pen or marker). Next, find a Jeep, ANY Jeep…Wrangler, Cherokee, Compass, Gladiator, and more. Lastly, place the duck along with a kind message in a spot where the driver will see it. That’s it! You have officially spread kindness in the world. Encourage your friends and family to keep this trend going. If you’re itching to be “ducked” yourself, but don’t drive a Jeep, maybe it’s time you start shopping! There’s no better time than now. Check out our Jeep inventory at Benna Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. Jeep Grand Cherokee & Grand Cherokee LReceive IIHS Safety+ Awards

The 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the three-row Jeep Grand Cherokee L scored the highest possible ratings in all four IIHS crashworthiness tests, earning the TOP SAFETY PICK+ ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). These categories include small overlap front – driver-side, small overlap front – passenger-side, moderate overlap front – original test and side impact – updated test. This all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee earned the highest safety rating in nighttime conditions and an “advanced” rating in daytime vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluations with its Full-Speed Collision Warning with Active Braking and Pedestrian/Cyclist Detection, otherwise standardly known as as Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) technology. The Intersection Collision Assist detects pedestrians and cyclists approaching the driver’s left and right side when nearing a crossroad. Visible and audible responses will activate if deemed necessary and will automatically brake the vehicle, even to a complete stop to aide in preventing a possible collision. The Drowsy Driver Detection feature tracks behaviors like that of a “drowsy” driver, such as lane deviation. The system will react with audio and/or visual cautions for the driver to pull over. The Grand Cherokee also earned the highest possible headlight rating for its high-beam assist, the unique array of cameras and sensors. With more than 110 safety and security features available, it should come as no surprise that the Grand Cherokee line-up is the most awarded SUV in the industry. “Achieving the highest possible safety rating from the IIHS is consistent with the Jeep Grand Cherokee’s place as the most awarded SUV in history,” says Jim Morrison, senior vice president and head of Jeep brand North America. “The Jeep Grand Cherokee’s singular blend of safety technology and extreme condition 4x4 capability affords our customers the level of driving confidence they deserve. And with the appeal of two- and three-row versions, that driving confidence is available to a wider customer demographic.” In addition to the award-winning safety features, this remarkable SUV boasts outstanding performance, comfortability, and functionality.
