2024 RAM 1500 Towing Capabilities

Autoblog Declares Ram 1500 the Class Leader

If you are looking for the critic’s choice in full-size pickup trucks, you will find it here at Benna Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. It was the 2021 MotorTrend “Truck of the Year.” Interestingly, it was awarded “Luxury Car of the Year” by Cars.com and has been named Car and Driver’s “10 Best” for the last five years. Now Autoblog has weighed in, calling the 2024 Ram 1500 a “ Class Leader” and “ a step ahead of the rest.” Smooth Operator In its Ram 1500 review, Autoblog wasted no time before praising Ram’s coil spring suspension, stating it “ dramatically improved the handling, trailering control and most obviously, the ride quality. It rides much smoother than rivals, especially when the bed is unloaded.” They return to the suspension later in the article, stating: “The Ram 1500 continues to be so refined that it can feel like you're driving a large crossover rather than a pickup. Thanks to its five-link coil spring rear suspension, its ride quality is buttery smooth and betters all its competitors.” Looks Good, Works Great They also took time to praise the interior. While they describe the flagship Longhorn as “downright luxurious,” they were equally impressed with the layout of the bare-bones Tradesman model. They implied the interiors continue to better the competition as you move up the model hierarchy: “For instance, the rich gray cloth upholstery in a Big Horn test truck contributed to a far more premium environment than what we found in a comparable Ford F-150 XLT trim level.” Beyond aesthetics, they give kudos to the easily configurable front center console and its clever storage solutions. The same praise goes to the practical usability of the available RamBox bins that provide storage within the bed walls. Practical usability also describes the well-thought-out Uconnect touchscreen as “ one of the most user-friendly interfaces on the market and includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.” This statement applies to the Tradesman’s 5-inch touchscreen, the 8.4-inch screen, or the 12-inch vertical screen on top-level models. The Crew Cab gained attention for its generous 45.2 inches of rear legroom, which is “about 2 inches better than the Silverado Crew Cab and F-150 SuperCrew, and 3.6 inches better than the Toyota Tundra Crew Max.” Such room allows the rear seatbacks to recline for improved rear seat comfort, a feature you can’t find on Ford and GM models. Smart and Powerful The standard 3.6-liter V6 is considered more than adequate and features eTorque, a mild 48-volt hybrid system that adds electrical assistance in acceleration while refining the start/stop system operation. The V-6 produces 305 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque while providing 35 mpg on the highway. The optional 5.7-liter V8 also benefits from the eTorque system, producing 395 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque. Highway mpg is 23 or 22 with 4WD. Still available for this year is the 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi V8 on the Ram TRX with an astounding 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. Autoblog summarizes their review like this: “Despite being challenged by newer rivals, the 2024 Ram 1500 remains our favorite in the class. Its sophisticated ride and classy interior give it a leg-up over the Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra, and Toyota Tundra. If you are even remotely considering a new pickup truck, you simply have to visit our Benna store and review the award-winning Ram 1500 for yourself.

2025 RAM 1500 On the Road

2025 Ram 1500 and the More Powerful, More Fuel-efficient Hurricane Engine Family

It was November 2023 when the 2025 Ram 1500 was unveiled. In addition to an updated appearance and new technology, the truck line will introduce a new 3.0-liter Hurricane engine family that increases standard horsepower, and performance as well as improved fuel efficiency. Benna CDJR looks forward to this new truck’s arrival, as will anyone in the greater Superior area interested in a more powerful truck. The Inline-Six Returns Find a car guy with gray hair, and he’ll tell you about the iconic, bullet-proof “slant-six” in 60s and 70s Dodge and Plymouth models. The two 3.0-liter Hurricane engines joining the current 3.6-liter V6 in the RAM 1500 family marks the return of the Mopar inline-6, though now in a more sophisticated and turbocharged form. The switch to an inline configuration brings about several advantages. V-6s are popular because they are short, making them easy to package, particularly when mounted transversely for front-wheel drive models.  But length is not an issue when mounted in a North-South position in a full-size pickup, and the inline-6 configuration enables several advantages. Among these is lower vibration through inherently better engine balancing. An inline-6’s pistons move in tandem with their mirror image on the opposite end of the block, So when pistons 1 and 6 are at top-dead-center, 2 and 5 are spaced at 120 degrees and 3 and 4 at 240 degrees. Each piston pair are two strokes apart (combustion matched by intake and compression matched by exhaust), which means an entirely even firing order resulting in an inherently smooth operation. This eliminates the need for balance shafts or extensive counterweighting that can sap power. There is also a single head instead of two and just two overhead camshafts instead of four. There is also greater room around the engine, making it easier to work on. The all-new 3.0-liter Hurricane engine is rated at 420 horsepower and 469 lb.-ft. of torque. A High Output version will produce 540 horsepower and 521 lb.-ft. of torque. All engines will be combined with a TorqueFlight 8-speed automatic transmission. 3.21, 3.55, or 3.92 axle ratios will allow customers to prioritize fuel economy and vehicle capability according to their needs. Maximum towing capacity is estimated at 11,580 pounds, with a maximum payload at 2,300 pounds. The Ram 1500 will continue with the double-wishbone front suspension and five-link solid rear axle that has brought it accolades across the industry. A class-exclusive, active-level, four-corner air suspension will be available. The system will be adjustable with five different modes: entry/exit, aero, normal, off-road 1, and off-road 2. “The new 2025 Ram 1500 brings our customers more: more power, more performance, and more fuel efficiency with our all-new 3.0-liter Hurricane engines,” said Tim Kuniskis, Ram brand CEO – Stellantis. “ With a choice of new and proven gas engines or our upcoming electric truck offerings, Ram is built to serve truck buyers everywhere. Our new powertrain offerings add to the unique combination of bold styling, leading-edge innovation, and technology, durability and capability Ram customers have come to know and love.” A Design Befitting Its Sophistication and Capability The styling is sleeker and more aerodynamic, while still presenting Ram’s bold, heroic presence with a new forward-leaning grille that will have eight different variations depending on the trim level. New premium LED headlamps, with twin bi-functional projector headlamps, are found on Limited and above trims and are matched by new LED tail lights with a jeweled appearance that is standard across the lineup. The 2025 Ram 1500 will be available in Tradesman, Big Horn/Lone Star, Laramie, Rebel, Limited Longhorn, Limited, and the all-new Tungsten trim levels. Features among the trim levels include: Tradesman will come standard with a 12-inch Uconnect screen Bighorn/Lone Star features a new Gridiron paint with laser etching decorative trim accents on the dashboard, doors, and console and a new Gear Embossed seat insert accent material in Diesel Gray or black Laramie features new Chevron film decorative trim accents and introduces a new optional Bison Brown/Sea Salt Gray two-tone interior in addition to the standard black interior Rebel features a new red/black ombre mesh insert material on the standard cloth/vinyl seats Limited Longhorn features the new Barn Wood 45 open pore real wood veneer with an improved saw cut effect. Longhorn is exclusively available with the all-new Bison Brown monochromatic interior and massaging front seats Limited features new Black Ebony open pore real wood veneer decorative trim accents. A new optional black/ebony red interior color package with massaging front seats will be available. Range-topping Tungsten model will feature real metal and leather interior trim, a 14.5-inch Unconnect display, and a segment-first 12.3.-inch front passenger display. Its standard 1,228-watt 23-speaker Klipsch Reference Premiere audio system is the most powerful truck audio system in the industry. Other new tech features include a 12.3 gauge cluster, dual wireless phone charging, a digital rearview mirror with tow-mode, a full-color 10-inch Head-Up Display, and a new Hands-Free driving assist system, just to name a few. Coming This Spring Already considered the best-in-class light-duty pickup truck by several sources, including J.D. Power, the 2025 Ram 1500 model line will up the game even further. The first 2025 RAM 1500 models can be expected to fill the Benna CDJR inventory in the first quarter of 2024. The High Output Hurricane engine is expected in the third quarter of 2025. If this sounds like a truck for you, be sure to have one of our sales professionals when the first models arrive.

Texas Truck Rodeo

Ram and Jeep Brands Earn Top Honors at TAWA Rodeo

We’ve all heard the old adage: “Everything’s bigger in Texas”. Ask any Texan, and they will tell you that Texas is big. Big enough that they not only have their own Auto Writers Association (TAWA), but an association big enough to meet each fall for their annual Texas Truck Rodeo. Here they evaluate all varieties of new trucks and SUVs. At the end, they name winners in multiple categories. This year Stellantis’ truck-focused Ram brand and SUV-focused Jeep brand took home nine awards, which was more than any other manufacturer at the competition. “Ram trucks brought their A-game again this year, winning several consecutive awards, including the Full-size Pickup Truck of Texas, and scoring the highest for overall personal appeal, which is significant because Texas is the truck capital of the US,” said Teia Collier, TAWA president. “We also enjoyed the lineup from the Jeep brand, with several vehicles that were the stars of their categories offering incredible performance, craftsmanship and capability.” 32 TAWA members spent a weekend in late September at Eagle Canyon Raceway in Decatur, Texas, taking trucks and SUVs on the road, off the road, and on the track to evaluate competing vehicles side-by-side. Consideration is given to everything from exterior/interior styling and off-road capability, to the entrant’s overall utility, value, and performance. The Nine awards taken home by Jeep and Ram were: Full-Size Pickup Truck: 2023 Ram 1500 Off-Road Pickup Truck: 2023 Ram 1500 TRX Luxury Pickup Truck: 2023 Ram 1500 Limited Heavy Duty Truck: 2023 Ram Heavy Duty Rebel Highest Personal Appeal: 2023 Ram 1500 Mid-Size SUV: 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Off-Road SUV: 2024 Jeep Wrangler Best Performance: 2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 Best Feature Award: Stellantis Uconnect 5 Nav System They didn’t have snow or an opportunity to give the heating systems or heated seats a workout, but pretty much everything else they did can relate to what we put our trucks through here in the dairy state. If you are looking for a mid-size truck, heavy-duty truck, a capable SUV, or even just a great infotainment system, you will find the winners right here at Benna Dodge Chrysler Jeep and Ram.

2024 RAM 1500

Ram 1500 named a Car and Driver 10 Best

Decades ago, the rent-a-car business competed as heavily in advertising as the auto insurance trade does now. Hertz was the undisputed leader and made sure everyone knew, so Avis came up with a long-running campaign proudly stating, “We’re number Two! We try harder!” Well, Ram (formerly Dodge) has been number 3 in sales under Ford and Chevrolet in light-duty pickup trucks, and Car and Driver seems convinced that being number three means they try even harder. And succeed in doing so. That appears to be the theme as they describe why they have again named the Ram 1500 among their 10 Best Trucks and SUVs, something the Ram 1500 has done every year since the 2019 introduction of the current design. They first point out the broadness of the Ram 1500 lineup from the no-frills Tradesman work trucks to “ luxe Limiteds with interiors to rival a Range Rover”. The publication is also a big fan of the available air springs for all four wheels, which can lower the body on the highway or raise it for off-road use. They additionally call out the multi-hinge tailgate and its useful ability to swing out on either side as well as work in a conventional manner. Their summation: “Everywhere you look, there's evidence of creative thinking and the license to chase ideas that don't fit pickup preconceptions.” Car and Driver also points out that the Ram never forgets that it is a truck and trucks should work hard. They praise the available RAMBox that allows you to store your tools securely without infringing on bed space. And they don’t overlook that when properly equipped, the Ram 1500 can tow over 12,000 pounds. It isn’t lost on Car and Driver that they bestowed this honor on the 2024 Ram 1500 even as it is at the end of its life cycle, and there are big changes planned for the 2025 model, including a pair of turbocharged inline-6 engines, a plug-in hybrid version, new interior, and hands-free highway driving. Not being the top in sales doesn’t mean you aren’t the best. Just think of some number-one TV shows you didn’t watch, but everyone else did. Trucks are what Ram does, and they will keep being creative, make the best trucks they can, build their fan base and accept awards. As Car and Driver points out, they make a truck for everyone, including you, and you can find it at Benna Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Superior, WI.

Dodge and Ram Dominate J.D. Power APEAL Mass-market Brand Rankings for Fifth Straight Year

Dodge again finished first in the 2023 annual J.D. Power U.S. Automotive Performance, Execution, and Layout (APEAL) Study among mass-market (non-luxury) brands. This marks the fourth straight year Dodge has taken first place in the study. Dodge became the only brand to earn a first-place ranking for three consecutive years in 2022, and winning a fourth consecutive year strengthens that record. Just behind, Stellantis sibling Ram took second place, also for the fourth consecutive year. Doing things Right Year After Year The 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Jailbreak models unlock color-combination ordering restrictions and adds new factory-custom options to deliver enthusiasts the freedom to build their own “one-of-one” Dodge performance vehicle. Bolstering the victory even further is that Dodge also took first place among mass-market brands in this year’s J.D. Power U.S. Initial Quality Study (IQS). This makes Dodge the only domestic brand to achieve both top positions in the same year. Unlike the IQS study, which basically charts “things gone wrong”, the APEAL study surveys what people like and don’t like about their vehicles’ performance, design, and operation. Because their positions were switched four years ago, this marks the fifth consecutive year Dodge and Ram have taken the top two positions in the study. Dodge and Ram’s continual top-ranking positions show that people who purchased Dodge and Ram models really like their vehicles, mathematically better than any other non-luxury brand. “This outcome demonstrates that the pursuit of superior customer experience is firmly entrenched in our culture,” says Bill Kendell, who assumed leadership of Stellantis North America’s customer experience organization on July 1. “Our motto is, ‘Every Customer Counts; Every Journey Matters.’ “These are more than just words to us,” Kendell adds. “ At Stellantis, customer experience is a vocation. Now we have to take this data and really dive deep.” Bucking the Industry Trend Also noteworthy is that Dodge and Ram improved upon their 2022 APEAL scores by five and 10 points respectively, while scores for the industry as a whole declined. Unsurprisingly, each brand had a model that ranked high in their segment. The 2023 Dodge Challenger, the brand’s second best-selling model, ranked first in the Midsize Sporty segment. Ram’s 2023 best seller, the Ram 1500, ranks second among Large Light-Duty Pickups. " Dodge didn't win this award, we accepted it on behalf of the Brotherhood,” says Tim Kuniskis, Dodge brand and Ram brand CEO - Stellantis. “ We have listened and learned from them. Those lessons will inform our product development as we redefine American muscle for the next era.” That next era comes soon. Dodge is saying goodbye to its Challenger and Charger muscle cars this year, but also recently launched the 2024 Hornet crossover, which claims the highest standard power in its class and includes a plug-in hybrid version - Dodge’s first. For its part, Ram will be launching two fully-electric vehicles in the form of the Ram Promaster electric van and the Ram 1500 REV full-size light-duty pickup. As mentioned, Dodge’s and Ram's customers are very happy with their purchases. If you would like to be one of those happy customers, pay a visit to Benna Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and take a close look at the models from both brands.

Ram 1500 EV Concept

Thinking of Everything to Build a Truck Unlike Anything

Looking to raise the standard in the electric pickup market is the concept of the 2024 Ram EV Pickup. What is an EV vehicle? An EV or an Electric Vehicle is a car that is powered by an electric motor and a rechargeable battery rather than a traditional gasoline or diesel engine. It produces no emissions and is environmentally friendly. Ram has always been ahead of the curve, building some of the most iconic trucks. We are excited here at Benna Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM to be announcing some of the incredible technological advances that have put this new vehicle at the top of the EV pickup list. Dreaming Big and Pushing Boundaries With all the competition out there, Ram is gearing to surpass the competition in range, towing, payload, charge time, and innovative technology that is about to change the game. RAM's EV pickup concept is set to debut in 2024 and boasts impressive specs and features that set it apart from other EV pickups on the market. Ram's “Shadow mode” is a remarkable new feature that uses sensors and cameras to follow drivers as they walk ahead of the vehicle at a safe distance, avoiding obstacles along the way. Also, there will be a new charger with smart technology that allows this charger to detect when the vehicle is near. This robot can detect not only the presence of vehicles but also its charging needs. It will then automatically move into position and align itself under the vehicle. More Amazing Benefits One of the biggest concerns for EV drivers is range anxiety or the fear of running out of battery power while on the road. RAM's EV pickup concept addresses this concern with an impressive range of over 500 miles on a single charge. This range is thanks to the vehicle's advanced battery technology and efficient electric motor. Another feature that is unique is that it does not sacrifice power for efficiency. This vehicle boasts impressive performance with a 0-60 mph time of just over 4 seconds and a top speed of 125 mph. The vehicle's electric motor delivers instant torque for quick acceleration and responsive handling. Pickup trucks are known for their towing and payload capabilities, and RAM's EV pickup concept is no exception. This vehicle has a towing capacity of up to 11,000 pounds and a payload capacity of up to 2,000 pounds. These capabilities make the RAM EV pickup concept a versatile vehicle that can handle both work and play. The Future is Electric RAM's 2024 EV pickup concept is poised to surpass the competition in the EV pickup market thanks to its impressive range, powerful performance, robust towing and payload capacity, innovative features, sustainable materials, and competitive pricing. The design team was told to dream big and push boundaries, and after seeing the visuals of this new EV, you can see they have followed through on the design. The new Ram EV pickup is so sleek, sporty, and still has that bruty feel that Ram enthusiast love. This vehicle represents the future of pickup trucks and sets a new standard for efficiency, performance, and sustainability.

Best Long-Term Maintenance Plan for the Ram 1500

Everyone understands that regular maintenance is the best course of action to prolong the life of a vehicle. At Benna CDJR, we strive to make all of your vehicle maintenance as trouble-free as possible. It is worth noting that vehicle maintenance schedules are established when the vehicle is new, before few, if any, versions of the model have reached high mileage in real-world use. The enthusiast site Motorbicuit has taken a look at the Dodge Ram 1500 maintenance schedule and then talked to current high mileage Ram 1500 owners and worked out their own recommended maintenance schedule. The Ram 1500 comes with a maintenance schedule for up to 144,000 miles. But, in the words of Motorbiscuit, “ Some owners claim Ram 1500s are so reliable that they don’t consider their Ram trucks high mileage until they reach the 200k mark.” The Ram 1500 design only dates back to 2019, so examples of models that have surpassed the 144K mark aren’t common. Josh Wheeler is a diesel mechanic who regularly travels across the country and puts about 50K miles per year on his 2019 Ram 1500 Limited, the odometer of which now shows 190K miles. He let Ram’s built-in systems tell him when to change the oil, which had him service it about every 8K to 10K miles. After his 160K oil change, Josh sent samples of the old oil to two separate labs for analysis. The unanimous results were that the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 “Had a perfect score.” His worst issue was a cracked exhaust manifold which he addressed promptly. The Maintenance Schedule Motorbiscuit published the following maintenance schedule based on the official Ram recommendations and some additional input from the CarEdge.com website. Here is their recommendation: Mileage Service 8k miles Oil change & tire rotation 16k miles Oil change & tire rotation 20k miles Inspect: brake pads, tie rods, and all front suspension components 24k miles Oil change & tire rotation 30k miles Inspect: Brakes, front suspension components, CV joints, transfer case fluid, and the condition of the transfer case and axle 32k miles Oil change, tire rotation Replace: Air filter and spark plugs 40k miles Oil change & tire rotation 48k miles Oil change, tire rotation Replace: Spark plugs 56k miles Oil change & tire rotation 60k miles Inspect: Brakes, suspension components, and all filters Check and/or replace: transmission fluid, engine coolant, transfer case fluid, and brake fluid 64k miles Oil change, tire rotation Replace: Air filter, spark plugs, and spark plug wires 72k miles Oil change & tire rotation 80k miles Oil change, tire rotation, cooling system flush 88k miles Oil change & tire rotation 96k miles Oil change & tire rotation Replace: Air filter, spark plugs, and spark plug wires 100k miles Inspect: Brakes, suspension components, CV joints, and all filters Check and/or replace: transmission fluid, engine coolant, transfer case fluid, and brake fluid 104k miles Oil change, tire rotation, cooling system flush 112k miles Oil change & tire rotation 120k miles Oil change, tire rotation, serpentine/drive belt replacement, transmission fluid service, transfer case fluid service Inspect Brakes and suspension components. Ram 1500, Rugged Reliability, Car and Driver 10Best Award

Ram 1500 earns Car and Driver 10Best award again

Benna CDJR of Superior, Wisconsin, is proud to announce the Ram 1500 has won a Car and Driver 10Best award for the fifth consecutive year. Among the winning group of SUVs and trucks, Ram was the only full-size pickup to make the list. Ram offered the 2023 Ram 1500 Limited and Ram 1500 TRX for evaluation; the award applies to the entire 2023 Ram 1500 model line. Testing occurred for two weeks during which Car and Driver editors drove, measured, and evaluated more than 55 cars, trucks, SUVs, and vans. All vehicles had to have a base price at or below $110,000. To earn its 10Best award, Car and Driver states: “Each winner leads its segment and offers the refinement, practicality, and value we look for during judging. Those virtues shouldn't come at the expense of the driving experience. Satisfying performance and entertaining vehicle dynamics are a requirement for every 10Best winner, no matter its shape, size, or segment”. " For everyone looking for a full-size pickup, which is a lot of Americans, the Ram 1500 meets all your needs and exceeds expectations. Its coil-spring rear suspension provides luxury-SUV-like ride quality, making the bouncy competition feel like farm trucks," said Joey Capparella, senior editor, Car and Driver. " The Ram's interior is its most surprising and delightful attribute. The upper trim levels feature carefully selected materials—leather, metal trim, open-pore wood—and the kind of attention to detail we expect in a Mercedes-Benz S-class. Even basic versions have sound ergonomics, crisp digital displays, and buttons and knobs that are satisfying to the touch. Chrysler's luxurious Imperial brand may have died long ago, but its spirit lives on in today's Ram." Other features pointed out in their review include: Optional split tailgate Air springs for lower that Ram for loading or hooking up a trailer Lockable storage boxes in the bed walls Car and Driver isn’t alone in their assessment as J.D. Power’s most recent APEAL Study named the 2022 RAM 1500 the large light-duty pickup for the third year in a row. The APEAL Study measures the emotional bond between customers, which is determined from customer feedback about a range of vehicle attributes, from ingress and egress to driving comfort, during the first three months of ownership. We at Benna CDJR are the least surprised by these accolades. Being witness to Ram 1500’s greatness for years, stop by and test drive a Ram 1500 for your full-size pickup needs. You will not only be matched with the best truck on the market, also our unsurpassed 20-year/20,000-mile warranty, knowledgeable sales staff, and helpful Finance Department.
