Stellantis Vehicles, Collect Multiple Awards at 2023 TAWA Auto Roundup

Stellantis brought back several awards from the 2023 annual Texas Automotive Writers Association (TAWA) Auto Roundup. Held in late March at Eagles Canyon Raceway in Decatur, Texas, Benna CDJR is proud to say that the Lone Star scribes showed some love for Dodge, Chrysler, and Alfa Romeo, bringing home a combined seven awards from the event. Ram and Jeep will likely get their turn when trucks are reviewed at the organization’s Texas Truck Rodeo in the fall. Dodge Hornet: Crossover Utility Vehicle of Texas The Dodge Hornet is the newest vehicle introduced across the Stellantis family and takes aim at the very popular compact crossover segment. TAWA took an instant liking to it, giving it the Utility Vehicle (CUV) of Texas title award but also bestowing honors such as Best Value, Best New Interior, and Best New Feature, for a total of four awards. The Best Feature award is for the class-exclusive PowerShot feature, which supplies a burst of 30 horsepower for the electrified Dodge Hornet R/T plug-in hybrid. The R/T has a rear-mounted motor that provides an estimated 30 miles of EV range and a combined 288 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. Dodge Challenger SRT Black Ghost: Performance Vehicle of Texas One of the seven “Last Call” special-edition Challenger and Charger models in their final year of muscle car production, The 807-horsepower Dodge Challenger Black Ghost channels the spirit of a legendary street racer that prowled Detroit’s famed Woodward Avenue in the 1970s. Only 300 of the Black Ghost “Last Call” models will be produced, all in Pitch Black and in Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody form. Chrysler Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid: Family Vehicle of Texas Probably the least surprising of the awards, the Pacifica took the Family Vehicle of Texas award for the 6th consecutive year. Minivans are known for carrying out commuting and domestic chores during the week and then being the designated vehicle for road trips, which is a perfect scenario for a plug-in hybrid drivetrain. Yet the Pacific remains the only available plug-in hybrid minivan in the country. The Pacifica PHEV provides an estimated 30 EV miles, 80 MPGe, and more than 500 miles total range. For this and other reasons, the Pacifica is also the most awarded minivan over the last six years, with more than 170 honors and industry accolades since its introduction. Alfa Romeo Stelvio: Best Mid-Size CUV For this award, it probably didn’t hurt that votes were decided after the cars were run on the Eagles Canyon Raceway. Because while the Stelvio is a beautiful piece of machinery full of Italian design and elegant detailing, it's the performance that makes it unforgettable. It isn’t just the 280 hp and 306 lb-ft of torque, it is the character of the engine as you put it through its paces, the sublime feel of the steering as it shows its sure-footedness on the curves, and the confidence one feels from the brakes. The Stelvio is a performance thoroughbred, and TAWA recognized just that. We thank TAWA for recognizing the special nature of these Stellantis models. Of course, Benna CDJR is where you can see the all-new Dodge Hornet and Chrysler Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid up close and experience them on the road. With production limited to just 300, we may not have a Challenger SRT Black Ghost in stock, but you can experience other Challengers, learn more about the Black Ghost, and put yourself in for a pre-order until they are all spoken for.

Ram Announces Major EV Van Fleet Sale to Merchants Fleet

Though the first Ram ProMaster EV has some time to go before becoming a part of the Benna CJDR inventory, Stellanis has announced a major fleet sale for the model to the Merchants Fleet fleet management company. Merchants Fleet has agreed to purchase 12,500 Ram ProMaster EVs over the next several years. The announcement comes on the heels of Amazon being the first commercial customer for the new Ram ProMaster EV, with plans to add thousands of Ram ProMaster EVs to their fleet each year. The Ram ProMaster EV will debut later this year as the first electric van from the Ram brand. Details have not been announced though it is expected to be very similar to the E-Ducato van by Stellantis-owned Fiat that is already for sale in Europe. That vehicle offers a choice of a 47.0 kWh (kilowatt-hour) battery pack or an optional 79.0 kWh pack. “At Ram, we are laser-focused on offering our customers electrified solutions with disruptive, leading-edge, advanced technology that meets real-world demands, and we are thrilled Merchants Fleet recognizes our all-new ProMaster EV will do exactly that,” said Mike Koval Jr., Ram brand CEO – Stellantis. “Our all-new ProMaster EV is Ram’s first EV offering in North America and an integral step in our electrification journey that will offer more efficient options to all of our customers.” Merchants Fleet is the fastest-growing fleet management company in North America. This announcement underscores the company’s leadership position in offering EV vehicles to its customers. The additional inventory from Stellantis will allow Merchants to provide fleet managers with an extensive selection of short- and long-term EV leasing options, allowing the customers flexibility in incorporating EVs into their own fleets. "We take great pride in our partnership with Stellantis, which plays a crucial role in our strategy to create an innovative EV ecosystem for our clients," said Brad Burgess, senior VP of fleet sales and strategic solutions at Merchants Fleet. " This collaboration allows us to provide our clients with exclusive access to EVs and a level of flexibility they simply can't get anywhere else." Starting with the recently introduced RAM 1500 REV, Ram will offer electrified solutions in the majority of its segments by 2025 and in all of its segments no later than 2030. Ram ProMaster EV is the first of 26 planned new electric commercial-vehicle launches that will contribute to reaching a 40% zero-emission mix by the end of the decade. The Ram ProMaster EV is expected to be a 2024 model and will be available in dealerships next year. Keep checking this blog for more details as they become available, and let us know if you would be interested in adding the ProMaster EV to your fleet.

FAQs About the 2024 Dodge Hornet

Since its inception in 1900, the Dodge brand has always been focused on excellence, performance, and turning possibilities into realities. While countless cars have embodied all of these virtues over the past 120-plus years, the 2024 Dodge Hornet might just be one of the biggest standouts yet. While the 2023 model was a massive success in every possible way, the 2024 Hornet has even more in store for its customers. So, without further ado, let’s take a closer look at some of the frequently asked questions (FAQs) about the 2024 Dodge Hornet. Read more: Sorting Through the Challenger Lineup Is There an Electric Model? First and foremost, is there an electric model? For the first time ever in the history of the brand, Dodge is proud to introduce an electrified performance hybrid: the 2024 Hornet R/T. Officially the most powerful utility vehicle in its segment, the 2024 Dodge Hornet R/T delivers 288 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque while offering 32 miles of all-electric range via a 15.5-kWh lithium-ion battery, as well as 77 MPGe and 360 miles of total range. Additionally, one can select from three different driving modes: Hybrid, Electric, and E-Save. As if that wasn’t enough, this groundbreaking vehicle comes with a class-exclusive, on-demand PowerShot feature. With it, the user can release a burst of 30 horsepower, which allows the Hornet R/T to go from zero to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds. Of course, all of this is just the beginning of what the 2024 Hornet R/T has to offer. What are the Gas Engine Specifications? As for the gas engine specifications, the exclusively-fuel-powered Hornet GT model is home to a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder Hurricane4 engine. This traditional titan produces up to 268 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque as commanded by its fully electronic nine-speed transmission. Plus, with stop-start technology on its side, the 2024 Hornet GT reduces its emissions while still providing its drivers with an undeniably powerful, punchy, and passionate drivetrain. In other words, imagine everything you love about good old-fashioned Dodge engineering but with the technology of today; it just doesn’t get any better than that. How Much Does it Cost? Last but certainly not least, one of the most common questions of all, how much does it cost? For the 2024 model year, the starting MSRP of each Dodge Hornet trim level is as follows: $30,735 for the base GT; $35,735 for the GT Plus; $40,935 for the R/T; and $45,935 for the R/T Plus. The 50 Best Dodge Models of All Time Part 3 (21 - 30)

This is Benna CDJR’s third installment on the top 50 Dodge models of all time. As before, the rankings were determined by Autoevolution. This edition looks at the 21st through 30 best-ranked models. As the middle of this five-part series, it is only appropriate that the vehicles are a mix of the obscure and obvious. 30. 2005 Ram 2500 Power Wagon If the trucks had always been in a separate Ram division, this would be a shorter series of articles. The Power Wagon name was first used in 1945 for the civilian version of vehicles it developed for the war and remained in use with updates until 1971. Dodge revived the name in 2005 for an off-road-focused version of its 2500 heavy-duty series, and it continues to this day. Wearing the 2nd generation of the “big-rig” front-end styling, the 2005 model sure looked the part, with a raised ride height sitting loftily over 33-inch all-terrain tires, flared fenders, and clearance lights. A 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 produced 345 horsepower and 375 lb-ft of torque, and it could actually be paired with a 6-speed manual, though most opted for the 5-speed automatic with a heavy-duty torque converter. Additional hardware included electronically controlled locking differentials, a disconnecting front sway bar, gas-charged shocks, extensive skid plates, and strengthened steering gear. 29. 2017 Challenger GT AWD Still a popular model to this day, the Challenger GT AWD was the first-ever muscle car with all-wheel drive, which still has no counterpart from Ford or Chevrolet. The system,  also found in the Charger, was rear-biased with a maximum of 38% of torque being distributed to the front and with an active transfer case and a front-axle disconnect system  The car basically behaves as a rear-driver until the roads get slick. The 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 was and is the only engine to power the AWD system. 28. 1963 Polara Max Wedge One nice thing about this series is that it shines some light on models that would otherwise be considered, well… ugly. Though a vast styling improvement from the 1962 model, the separated and different height headlights were polarizing, if you excuse the pun. While the Polara name was introduced just three years earlier on full-size models, the ‘63 is the second year and last year on a mid-size platform. The lighter cars had great success at NASCAR, though like all Max Wedges, this model was pointed toward Super Stock drag racing. The 426 cubic-inch V-8 produced 425 horsepower with an “I’ll-take-Premium-please” 13.5:1 compression ratio. A limited number of non-racing models made it to the streets where they were, of course, immediately raced. 27. 1963 330 Max Wedge Originating in 1962, the Dodge Mid-size platform carried the 330, Polara, and even the Dart names for a few years. The 330 was only fitted with the 426 Max Wedge and was stripped down to be even more drag-racing focused than the Polara. With its short-lived name and even fewer models produced, the 1963 330 Max Wedge is a sought-after collectible. 26. 1965 Coronet HEMI A990 In 1965, the Polara name returned to the full-size Dodge platform to be replaced by the Coronet name, which means “Small Crown”. As with many mid-60s models on this list, the A990 was dedicated to Super Stock drag racing, most evidenced by an acid-dipped body that was 60% thinner than normal and a one-inch shorter wheelbase. All convenience features were removed, and two simple bucket seats were brought in from the A100 van. Replacing the Max Wedge was the now-famous 426 HEMI which produced 425 horsepower. 25. 1968 Dart HEMI L023 Dodge’s name shuffling must have confused everyone in the early 60s. As recently as 1961, the Dart name was on its full-size line. In 1962 it accompanied the Polara and 330 names on the mid-size platform, and one year later, it replaced the Lancer name for the compact line, where it remained for a while. By 1963, the Dart had shed its Virgil Exner awkward styling, and another redesign in 1967 made it a pretty sharp-looking car. Though most were powered by the 225 slant-six, Dodge wasted no time installing V-8s, including the small block 340, the big block 383, and even a 440 for a short period. The most bonkers Dart, however, was another Class A Super Stock special with the 426 HEMI stuffed under its high-scooped hood. Hurst Performance provided many of the bits between the engine and rear wheels. Adding more lightness to the compact platform, the car had a fiberglass hood and fenders, acid-dipped doors, lighter glass, and still had the van-sourced bucket seats. The LO23 name came from the production code, and the model came with a no-warranty disclaimer. 24. 1945 Power Wagon We referenced the 1945 Power Wagon in #40 above, and here it is. The Power Wagon was a civilian version of the military-spec WC series. With a one-ton rating, the Power Wagon was the first civilian 4x4 medium-duty truck produced by a major manufacturer. It is clear that the Power Wagon was decades away from the “lifestyle” pickup era. It had a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 8,700 pounds and a maximum payload of 3,000 pounds, the bed was 8 feet long, and its creature comforts were designed to accommodate soldiers who had no choice in the matter. It had redesigns through the years, but the 230-cubic-inch (3.8-liter) flathead inline-six was the only available engine until 1961. 23. 1992 Viper RT/10 If you have been reading this series, you have been wondering when this car would appear. Though viewed as a competitor to the only other domestic high-performance 2-seater, the Corvette, the original concept was to be a modern version of the Shelby Cobra, which it vaguely resembles from certain angles. But while the Cobra was an English car with American muscle, the Viper was an American car with Italian flavor. Under the hood was a 400 hp, 410 lb-ft V-10 based on the V10 truck engine. Chrysler-owned Lamborghini took the engine and re-engineered it to be an aluminum block and heads. The Viper also resembled the Cobra as a pure sports car, lacking traction control, anti-lock brakes, airbags, air conditioning, a real roof, and even exterior door handles. As the years progressed, some of those features found their way into the car. 22. 2019 Challenger Scat Pack 1320 After the 808 hp SRT Demon launched for one year in 2018, the Scat Pack 1320’s 485 horsepower from its 6.4-liter HEMI might sound a bit tame. But with a 0-60 in about four seconds, the Scat Pack still had a drag racing focus with drag-spec wheels and tires, adaptive damping, extreme-duty 41-spline half shafts, and a trans-brake. Options included deleting the rear and front passenger seat, all leading to a car that could be easily modified to Stock and Super Stock class regulations for NHRA competition. Something the Demon could not claim. 21. 2016 Viper ACR The two best-known Vipers are the original above and this monster. ACR stands for American Club Racing, and racing was clearly what this car was about. While the original Viper design didn’t give a fig about downforce, the carbon-fiber bits from the leading front air dam to the side winglets to the monster wing in the rear, pressed the car to the pavement by as much as 1500 pounds while cornering. By now, the V-10 produced 645 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of screaming grunt. Bilstein designed the suspension and the carbon fiber brakes. Its 7:01 Nurburgring Nordschleife lap time didn’t break the record set by the Lamborghini Huracán Performante LP640-4 the previous year, but it was close.

Ram Introduces Rebel Havoc and Lunar Editions

Ram introduces the limited-run Ram 1500 Rebel Lunar and Havoc Editions. Previous use of both names has been limited to the big, bad 1500 TRX, but these two editions are built from the Rebel trim.  Because of their limited run, the Rebel Havoc or Lunar Editions may not appear in the Benna CDJR inventory but can be ordered. Exteriors that Get Noticed Color separates the Havoc from the Lunar trim. The Havoc features an attention-grabbing Baja Yellow exterior, while the Lunar has a menacing Ceramic Gray.   Graphics and trim are identical on both, which includes bold, black "Rebel" graphics on the hood and rear fenders, black badging, bumper, and an all-black grille. The Rebel  Hemi V-8 Option is Standard Behind the black-on-black grille is a 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 producing 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired with an eight-speed transmission. The Havoc and Lunar editions ride on the Rebel’s 1-inch raised ride height, with 18-inch gloss black 6-spoke wheels wearing 33-inch LT275/70R18E OWL All-Terrain tires. Also included is the new-for-2023 Selec-Speed Control, which allows the truck to maintain consistent speed while traversing variations in slope. Using both engine torque and brake pressure to help keep a consistent pace, allows the driver to focus on steering on rough terrain. Standard Level 2 Equipment Package Inside, the Havoc and Lunar Editions come standard with the Rebel Level 2 equipment package, key features of which, on top of the extensive Level 1 group features like a 12.0-Inch touchscreen display, smartphone compatibility, 8-way power driver’s seat, and much more, Level 2 includes: 19-Speaker Harman Kardon ® Premium Sound system Heated front seats and steering wheel Front Door Passive Entry and Lock ParkSense ® Front and Rear Park-Assist with Stop Rain-Sensitive Windshield Wipers Rear Under-Seat Storage Compartment Remote-Start System Security Alarm Equipped with everything mentioned above, the Rebel Havoc and Lunar Editions have a starting MSRP of $72,205.  As mentioned, both the Rebel Havoc and Lunar Editions have limited availability and may not appear in our inventory. The 50 Best Dodge Models of All TimePart 2 (31 - 40)

This is Benna CDJR’s second look at the top 50 Dodge models of all time as collected by the enthusiast site Autoevolution. This edition looks at the 31 - 40 best-ranked models. As mentioned in the first installment of this series, Dodge isn’t going anywhere, just two of its iconic models are, so this seems to be a good time to look at some of the brand's greatest models in its 95-year history. 40. 2007 Avenger R/T AWD Originally a Dodge Coupe version of the 2nd-generation Mitsubishi Eclipse, the Avenger came back in 2007 as a mid-size sedan replacing the Dodge Stratos. Like the coupe, the Avenger was based on a Mitsubishi Galant platform and built in the Chrysler - Mitsubishi joint venture Diamondstar plant in Normal, IL. All Avengers sported Charger-like styling, particularly with the kick-up character line just before the rear fenders. What puts this model on the list, however, was the R/T model’s combination of a 235 horsepower 3.5-liter V-6 and all-wheel drive, which made it stand out in the mid-size sedan class. Running the power through a 6-speed automatic transmission, and helped by AWD traction, the Avenger could transition from stop to 60 in 7.2 seconds. 39. 1940 WC-Series Remember that fast-moving ambulance heading into the M*A*S*H camp just as the music picks up in the show’s opening credits? That was a Dodge WC. Like the Jeeps often shown on that program, the WC was built for World War II in cooperation with Fargo, another Chrysler-owned truck company. Built in ½, ¾ ton and even six-wheeled 1½ ton versions, WCs took on the bigger jobs, including cargo trucks and weapons carriers, (radio) command cars, reconnaissance vehicles, carryalls, panel vans, telephone installation, mobile emergency/field workshop trucks, and of course ambulances. More than 350,000 WC were made through 1945, and together GPs (Jeeps) and WCs (sometimes nicknamed “Beeps”) made up nearly all the light-duty trucks used by the U.S. military during the war. 38. 1966 D/Dart Super Stock An arguable distant spiritual ancestor to the Hellcat and the current “Last Call” models, the D.Dart Super Stock was a factory-built drag racer designed to compete on the strips against other small-block V-8s of the time. The compact-sized D/Dart’s 273 cubic inch V-8 was pumped up to produce 275 horsepower. That is more than one horsepower per cubic inch. Only 50 models were built. It is somewhat overshadowed by the Dart LO23 that was stuffed with a 425 Hemi and occasionally a 440 ci. 37. 1974 Ramcharger Least known of the full-size 2-door SUVs, the Ramcharger came out five years after the full-size K5 Chevrolet Blazer, but three years before the full-size Ford Bronco. Like its competitors, the Ramcharger was built on a short wheelbase version of the brand’s full-size pickup. The top was removable, and there was even a cloth top available for a while. It started as a 2-seat hauler, but a second row of seats was added two years later. While the base model was powered by the venerable 225 slant-six, from there, it was all V-8s in 318, 360, 400, and 440 cubic inch sizes. There was an identical Plymouth version of this vehicle called the Trailduster, marking one of the only times a truck was offered by that brand. There were two generations of Ramchargers spanning 20 years. 36. 2003 Neon SRT-4 The Neon SRT-4 is another example of Dodge making a hellion out of an ordinary sedan. While most 2nd-generation Neons were available with either 132 or 150 horsepower, the SRT-4 (Street and Racing Technology-4 cylinder) was a concept model developed by DaimlerChrysler's PVO (Performance Vehicle Operations) in-house tuner group to originally produce 208 hp using a supercharged 2.0-liter. By the time of the 2003 production model debut, it featured a 215 horsepower turbocharged 2.4-liter inline-4, which was bumped up to 230 hp the following year. The model proved more popular than Dodge expected. Originally expecting to sell just 2,500 per year, over 25,000 models were sold across three model years. 35. 1964 D-100 Street Wedge The D-100 Street Wedge is arguably the first factory muscle truck. Based on the plain but hard-working D-100s that normally ran on the 225 slant-six or 318 V-8. This model was powered by a predecessor of the famed 426 Hemi known as the 413-cubic-inch Max Wedge V8. known as the  “Ramcharger”, the first use of the name. Chrysler developed the engine specifically for drag racing among its full- and mid-size cars. Rated at 365 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque, it was the most powerful truck at the time though Dodge only built 50 of them, just enough to meet NHRA requirements. 34. 2009 Challenger Drag Pak This is yet another factory-built drag racer. The Challenger just had its return the prior year, and Dodge was heavy into nostalgia with a series of special edition models that were homages to famous Dodges of the muscle car years. The Drag Pak was the only one that wasn’t street-legal. The lack of production use enabled Dodge to shave 1000 pounds off the car. There were three engine options, including a 5.7-liter Hemi, 6.1-liter Hemi, and a 5.9-liter Magnum Wedge. An initial run of the required 50 cars was completed to meet NHRA requirements, though over 100 Challenger Drag Pak" vehicles were eventually produced. 33. 1978 Li'l Red Express To understand the Li’l Red Express, one must understand the late 70s. Emission requirements were detuning muscle cars out of existence. But those requirements did not apply to trucks. So Dodge started producing a line of “adult toys” in truck form. The Macho Power Wagon was a 4x4 truck with fat tires, a factory roll bar, and a wild two-tone paint job. The Warlock had a step-side bed,  aftermarket wheels, gold pinstriping, bucket seats, and fat white-letter tires. The Li’l Red Express beat them all in audacious styling. The step-side bed had oak sideboards, and roof-high semi-like exhaust pipes rose between the cab and rear fender. All models were red with a large, gold company logo-like Li’l Red Express Truck sign on the doors. The Express was powered by the 360 ci V-8 producing 225 horsepower, which seems paltry today but was more powerful than anything but the Corvette at the time. 32. 2006 Magnum SRT-8 Ironically, it was the Dodge Caravan minivan that fired the first crippling blow at the venerable station wagon body style. In the subsequent 20 years, both minivans and SUVs had pretty much sealed the wagon’s fate. But with its LX platform derived from Daimler’s Mercedes E and S-Class, Dodge figured they had just the right ingredients to revive the All-American full-size RWD wagon. This being Dodge, it was just two years before they created a halo muscle car version with a 6.1-liter HEMI V8 engine good for 425 horsepower mated to a 5-speed automatic that also came from Mercedes. The drivetrain was good for a 0-60 time of just 5.1 seconds and hit the quarter mile in 13.1 seconds at 108 mph. Brembo brakes brought things back to a stop. All Magnums remained niche vehicles as Americans continued to flock to SUVs, and the wagon was discontinued in 2008. 31. 2007 Charger Daytona It didn’t have a roof-high wing, but Dodge’s homage to its iconic NASCAR warrior almost 3-decades earlier was a looker. With a moderate altitude black rear wing, blacked-out rear, mostly black hood with “HEMI” cut out on each side, rear ‘70 ‘Cuda-like black stripes, and 20-inch chrome five-split-spoke wheels, this charger was not subtle. That is even before you consider the roster of Dodge’s famous amusingly named colors, such as Sub Lime Green, Plumb Crazy Purple, and Top Banana, plus a few new ones, such as Go ManGo!, Stone White, and HEMI Orange. Mechanically the Daytona was basically an R/T with ten more horses thanks to a more free-breathing exhaust system, for a total of 350. In 2009 the power increased to 368 thanks to a new variable valve timing system. While not as potent as the SRT models, its tribute to vehicles colors and imagery of the muscle car era paved the way for many many of the current “Last Call” models Stay tuned as the Benna CDJR blog continues this series with the 21-30 ranked best Dodge models.

Jeep Wrangler Willys

2024 Jeep Wrangler Brings More Models and More Capability

The Jeep Wrangler is the world’s most recognized vehicle in the world as well as the most off-road capable. Benna CDJR is proud to tell you that for the 2024 model year, Jeep will add new technology, new models, and even more capability. All the changes stay true to the Wrangler heritage of delivering the freedom to go anywhere and do anything. Overall, the Jeep model line features a new treatment to the front end and its famous 7-slot grille. The front fascia now ends above the bumper with black textured slots and gray metal bezels on most models with trim-level variations. There are also ten new wheel designs. Changes are even bigger inside with a revised upper dash featuring a 12.3-inch touchscreen powered by the Uconnect 5 operating system, which includes standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Newly available within the Uconnect system are Trails Offroad comprehensive off-road trail guides for the 62 Jeep Badge of Honor trails. An upgradable subscription provides access to the full catalog of 3,000-plus Trails Offroad trail guides Willys The 2024 Willys model increases its capability with a standard Tru-Lok rear locker, steel rock rails, 33-inch tires, and the Selec-Trac full-time transfer case with a 4LO ratio of 2.72:1. Also new is a trailer tow and heavy-duty electrical group. Rubicon The Rubicon now features a 100:1 crawl ratio. And if that isn’t enough to get you through your rock crawling, there is now an available factory-installed Warn winch with an 8,000 lb. capacity that is mounted in a new steel bumper with removable end caps. The Rubicon also features Jeep’s first full-float Dana rear axle. This consists of a wheel hub assembly that is separate from the axle shaft, with a spindle bolted to the axle tube that supports the wheel hub via a pair of wheel bearings. Thus, the weight of the vehicle is transferred to the axle tube rather than the axle shaft itself so the latter is no longer subjected to torsional loads allowing its sole function to be transmitting power to the wheel hub. This new axle enables a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 pounds on Rubicon non-hybrid models. The Rubicon X is added to the model line featuring a Rock-Trac full-time transfer case, integrated off-road camera, steel bumpers, and the Xtreme 35 Package with beadlock-capable wheels and 35-inch BFGoodrich all-terrain tires. The 470-horsepower Wrangler Rubicon 392 will also feature the Extreme 35 Package. High Altitude The High Altitude model has more standard features, including the Sky One-Touch powertop, 12-way power & heated front seats, integrated front camera, and Selec-Trac full-time transfer case. 20-inch wheels and body-color bumpers also set the High Altitude apart from the rest of the model lineup. 4XE The Jeep Wrangler 4XE is America’s best-selling plug-in hybrid. With two electric motors, a 400-volt 17-kWh battery pack, a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, and TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission, it produces a combined 375 horsepower, 470 lb.-ft. of torque, and 21 EV-only miles. For 2024, Wrangler introduces a more affordable Sport S 4xe model. The 2024 Wrangler 4XE also now offers the Jeep 4XE Power Box, featuring four 120-volt outlets with 30 amps of total output, to allow the battery pack to power external devices for camping or power tools. The Rubicon X is now also available with the 4XE drivetrain, though without the Extreme 35 Package. Overall, the Jeep continues to find more ways to give people what they have always wanted in a Wrangler: Uncompromised freedom and capability. If you are interested in the 2024 Wrangler, contact Benna CDJR and ask for them to contact you when they start arriving later this year.

Ram 1500 EV Concept

Thinking of Everything to Build a Truck Unlike Anything

Looking to raise the standard in the electric pickup market is the concept of the 2024 Ram EV Pickup. What is an EV vehicle? An EV or an Electric Vehicle is a car that is powered by an electric motor and a rechargeable battery rather than a traditional gasoline or diesel engine. It produces no emissions and is environmentally friendly. Ram has always been ahead of the curve, building some of the most iconic trucks. We are excited here at Benna Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM to be announcing some of the incredible technological advances that have put this new vehicle at the top of the EV pickup list. Dreaming Big and Pushing Boundaries With all the competition out there, Ram is gearing to surpass the competition in range, towing, payload, charge time, and innovative technology that is about to change the game. RAM's EV pickup concept is set to debut in 2024 and boasts impressive specs and features that set it apart from other EV pickups on the market. Ram's “Shadow mode” is a remarkable new feature that uses sensors and cameras to follow drivers as they walk ahead of the vehicle at a safe distance, avoiding obstacles along the way. Also, there will be a new charger with smart technology that allows this charger to detect when the vehicle is near. This robot can detect not only the presence of vehicles but also its charging needs. It will then automatically move into position and align itself under the vehicle. More Amazing Benefits One of the biggest concerns for EV drivers is range anxiety or the fear of running out of battery power while on the road. RAM's EV pickup concept addresses this concern with an impressive range of over 500 miles on a single charge. This range is thanks to the vehicle's advanced battery technology and efficient electric motor. Another feature that is unique is that it does not sacrifice power for efficiency. This vehicle boasts impressive performance with a 0-60 mph time of just over 4 seconds and a top speed of 125 mph. The vehicle's electric motor delivers instant torque for quick acceleration and responsive handling. Pickup trucks are known for their towing and payload capabilities, and RAM's EV pickup concept is no exception. This vehicle has a towing capacity of up to 11,000 pounds and a payload capacity of up to 2,000 pounds. These capabilities make the RAM EV pickup concept a versatile vehicle that can handle both work and play. The Future is Electric RAM's 2024 EV pickup concept is poised to surpass the competition in the EV pickup market thanks to its impressive range, powerful performance, robust towing and payload capacity, innovative features, sustainable materials, and competitive pricing. The design team was told to dream big and push boundaries, and after seeing the visuals of this new EV, you can see they have followed through on the design. The new Ram EV pickup is so sleek, sporty, and still has that bruty feel that Ram enthusiast love. This vehicle represents the future of pickup trucks and sets a new standard for efficiency, performance, and sustainability.

Ubitricity Lamp Post Charger in Liverpool

Liverpool, UK Adds Chargers to Lamp Posts for Curbside EV Charging

As Benna CDJR awaits the arrival of Stellantis Battery Electric Vehicles, it is clear that one of the paradoxes of EVs is that they are the least practical for a group that would probably be most open to the idea. That would be young urbanites. Driving distances are shorter in the city, and much of it involves stop-and-go driving, both of which work in EV’s favor. The younger demographic is also generally more environmentally conscious (they have to live with the consequences longer) and less established in their automotive preferences. The problem is that many of them live in apartments where they have no means of charging overnight. The city of Liverpool, UK, has plans for at least a partial solution. Adding 300 Chargers to the City The plan is to install Level 2 chargers on lampposts that line the city streets for use by cars parking curbside. A company called Ubitricity plans to install 300 such charge points around Liverpool. When added to the 150 charge points already in the city, this will give Liverpool the status of third largest public charging network in the country. London and Coventry are first and second, respectively Regarding London, they are also planning to have Ubitricity add 500 chargers to lampposts in the Westminster area of London. London has a fairly robust charging infrastructure already having had over 6000 public chargers since 2018. " This program puts down a real mark of intent to provide the necessary infrastructure to help the move away from petrol and diesel-powered cars," said Liverpool city councilor Dan Barrington. "The fact that the roll-out is being led by community requests means the points are going where the demand is needed most which means they'll be getting maximum usage." What the system has going for it is taking advantage of existing electric infrastructure. Ubitricity will be attached 5kW chargers to the lamp posts. They might not fully charge a depleted Hummer EV Pickup overnight, but they could be expected to fully charge the average EV owned by a city dweller. This is presently thought to be one of the most cost-effective and accessible EV charging infrastructure ideas that could be replicated in the U.S. Due in large part to its size, charging infrastructure in the US by Tesla, Electrify America, ChargePoint, and others has mostly focused on collective charging locations featuring DC-direct fast charging for people traveling from one part of the country to another and adding charging locations to office parking lots.  That still leaves out many apartment renters looking to charge their commuters. Would it Work in the U.S.? The idea raises several questions in terms of its viability in the U.S. City curbside parking is often in short supply, so would the chances of finding available chargers be too haphazard for city EV drivers to feel confident in their charging ability? Would there be a backlash when spaces by street lamps are reserved for EVs? Would hooligans roam the streets with cable cutters just for spite? And are apartments structured differently enough in the U.S. that promoting charging ability within apartment complex parking would be more effective?  These questions and many more are likely to be asked by city planners across the U.S. as they closely watch the Liverpool plan. In any case, such changes probably may not come to the Superior area any time soon. If you have a place to charge overnight, the EVs planned by Stellantis and coming to Benna CDJR may work for you.
