The North American Car, Truck and Utility Vehicle of the Year Awards (NACTOY) are now underway. The panel of jurors just announced the semifinalists for the 2022 awards. Among the 23 new vehicles that made the list of semifinalists for 2022, the Jeep Grand Cherokee L, along with the new Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer are named for consideration for North American Utility of the Year. The North American Car, Truck and Utility awards are unique because they are not decided by a single publication. Instead, they are evaluated throughout the year by 50 respected jurors from print, online, radio, and broadcast media across the U.S. and Canada. The J.D. Power Initial Quality Study is one of the most important indicators on how well our vehicles hold up within the first year of ownership. Our work has paid off! It is great news to learn that the Ram and Dodge brands ranked in first and second place in this year’s Initial Quality Study. Ram has become the first truck-only brand to achieve the top spot in this important and esteemed survey. In addition, the Ram 2500/3500 Heavy Duty pickup trucks ranked first in its segment by J.D. Dodge placed second, which continues the brand’s transformation into one with unrivaled quality, as shown in last year’s Initial Quality Survey. This was bolstered by the Dodge Charger’s standing in its segment in the survey. J.D. Power surveyed new-vehicle buyers about their first three months of ownership and tracked problems per 100 vehicles (PP100) to measure the performance of 32 brands. Compared with 2020’s results, Ram’s industry-leading total improved by 13 PP100 to 128. Dodge was next with 139, five PP100 fewer than its nearest competitors. The Jeep Gladiator also led its segment in the study. In fact, the Gladiator, along with strong study showings by the Grand Cherokee, helped Jeep to achieve a score of 149. This puts them 13 PP100 better than the industry average of 162. Also, the Chrysler 300 scored very well in this survey. This gives half of Stellantis vehicles sold across all brands a place among the top three of each segment in the study. Today, we celebrate 80 years of Jeep. We celebrate the past, present, and future of the iconic brand that is a favorite here in the Twin Ports. It all began in 1941, when the U.S. War Department – now known as the Department of Defense – finalized the contract for a reconnaissance vehicle that was small, versatile, and agile. That contract was shared with a company called Willys-Overland. They had never built a vehicle that could take on rugged terrains and battlefields before. However, their proposal to build such a vehicle was approved. more By the time victory was declared in 1945, over 350,000 Jeep MBs were produced for the war effort. Just like the many soldiers, sailors, Marines, and air corps that returned home, Willys-Overland began to convert the Jeep MB into its civilian life. From there, the rest is history... When paired with the six-speed manual transmission, this optional axle ratio delivers a best-in-class 100:1 crawl ratio for increased wheel torque and control when navigating off-road obstacles. Customers can now order the Jeep Wrangler Xtreme Recon package on both Wrangler Rubicon 4-door and Wrangler Rubicon 392 models. Production for the package additions start in August with delivery soon after. The 4.88:1 axle ratio will be available for ordering on the Wrangler Rubicon later this year. The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L has arrived at Superior Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram soon. The first vehicles just rolled off the new Detroit Assembly Complex on Mack Avenue – a location where many of the legendary MOPAR vehicles were assembled. This is the first assembly plant to open in the city of Detroit in thirty years. This endeavor took $1.6 billion to convert two engine plants and add a new paint shop to create the most modern assembly complex in North America. more What has changed We will be duly rewarded with the new Grand Cherokee L here in the Twin Ports. Riding on a new 121.7-inch wheelbase, the three-row Grand Cherokee L can seat up to seven passengers. Getting to the third row will be helped with longer rear side doors enabling access to both the second and third rows. The Grand Cherokee L is built on a brand new unibody structure. Four Wheel Drive Options Though it has grown a third row of seats, the new Grand Cherokee L retains all of Jeep’s DNA, including excellent four-wheel-drive traction. Customers have a choice of three four-wheel-drive systems: Quadra-Trac I, Quadra-Trac II, and Quadra-Drive II. These systems are also augmented by the Selec-Terrain traction management system and the available Quadra-Lift air suspension. Combined, the Grand Cherokee L will be able handle anything from the Upper Peninsula and the Boundary Waters. You will have a choice of a 290-horsepower 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 and the 357-horsepower 5.7-liter V8. Both engines will be mated to the TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic. The Grand Cherokee L will also feature a front-axle disconnect which will automatically cancel the use of the front axle when only two wheels need to be driven instead of four. The new Grand Cherokee L will be a technological feast for the eyes and ears. The new Uconnect 5 infotainment system will be featured in this newest SUV in a new 10-inch touchscreen, along with available audio systems from audiophile specialist McIntosh. Included in the Uconnect 5 will be a segment first wireless smartphone integration for Apple and Android devices. The instrument cluster will be housed in a new 10-inch screen that is customizable to the driver. A new Head-up Display will be added to select models. Safety is also highlighted in the new Grand Cherokee L. Among these are L2 driver-assisted systems with hands-on automated driving. Other features also include a 360-degree surround view and night vision cameras. These are among 110 safety and driver-assistance features on the new Grand Cherokee L.
