Jeep Retains Wrangler 392 for 2025 with Final Edition Model

It's no secret that Jeep's parent company, Stellantis, has been phasing down its Hemi products. The often HEMI-powered Dodge Challenger and Charger saw their last year in 2024. The Chrysler 300 ended the year before, and Ram trucks are having their Hemi V8s replaced by the very capable Hurricane Turbocharged V6 engines. So, among the many reactions to the news that the HEMI V8-powered Jeep Wrangler 392 was not to be continued, surprise was probably not one of them. Defiance and protest were, however. Thus, Benna Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram is proud to announce that, literally due to popular demand, the Wrangler 392, with its unique V8 power, will continue for the 2025 model year. “When news broke in March that Jeep Wrangler 392 was roaring off into the sunset, the comments, coverage, and conversation showed us that the Jeep community isn’t quite ready to say goodbye to the V-8-powered Wrangler,” said Bill Peffer, Senior Vice President and Head of Jeep Brand North America. “Jeep brand listened and will continue the 392 Final Edition into the 2025 model year.” The “392” refers to the engine’s displacement in cubic inches. That translates to 6.4 liters of HEMI V-8 producing 470 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque.  That makes the Wrangler 392 good for a 0-60 mph run in 4.5 seconds and reaching the quarter mile in 13 seconds flat. The model also features 11.6 inches of ground clearance and is capable of 34.5 inches of water fording. The model features a Selec-Trac full-time four-wheel drive system with a two-speed transfer case, heavy-duty wide track Dana 44 axles, Tru-Lok electronic locking differentials, and an electronic front sway-bar disconnect. The 2025 Jeep Wrangler 392 Final Edition will continue with most of the standard equipment that was included in the 2024 392 Final Edition, including: Standard 8,000-pound-capacity Warn winch Half-inch suspension lift Heavy-duty rock sliders Mopar fold-out swing gate table Black Nappa leather-trimmed seats Exclusive hood and fender vent decals Specially monogrammed shifter medallion and swing gate plaque Standard Xtreme 35 Package with bronze 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels and 35-inch BFGoodrich all-terrain tires The 2024 Final Edition model’s Mopar triple loop grille guard and Mopar Jeep 83-piece toolkit remain exclusive to that year and thus will not be included in the 2025 model. Jeep will start building the 2025 Wrangler 392 Final Edition in the first quarter of 2025.  In late 2024, orders can be made at Benna DCJR for what is likely to be the last Wrangler 392 models. In the meantime, we invite you to look at the not-quite-as-powerful but very capable Wranglers currently in the Benna CDJR  inventory.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe

Though Jeep previously had 4-door SUVs, the 1984 Cherokee broke out of the niche market of hunters, farmers, and outdoor enthusiasts and into the mainstream. Adding the second set of doors made it a practical family vehicle. The Grand Cherokee followed in 1992 and changed the market again by adding luxury and refinement to the formerly rough-and-tumble segment, with upper trim levels becoming the Jeep brand’s first real luxury offering. The Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe changes expectations again by adding the sophistication of a plug-in drivetrain to the mid-size SUV segment. The Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe has prompted many questions, which this Benna Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram post will address. How is the Grand Cherokee 4xe Powered? The Grand Cherokee 4xe replaces the regular model’s 3.6-liter V6 with a powertrain similar to that in the Jeep Wrangler 4xe. It is a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4 combined with two electric motors. The smaller motor/generator replaces the alternator, adding 44 horsepower and 39 lb-ft of torque. The second, larger motor is mounted to the transmission, producing 134 horsepower and 195 lb-ft. The motors are fed by a 17.3-kWh battery, which in turn is charged by plugging into the grid and brake regeneration. Is the 4xe More Powerful Than Other Grand Cherokee Models? The 4xe is significantly more powerful than the V6-powered Grand Cherokee models. Its total system power of 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque greatly exceeds the V6’s 293 horsepower and 260 lb-ft. 2024 Jeep® Grand Cherokee Summit Reserve 4xe What is the Grand Cherokee 4xe’s Electric Range? The EPA estimates that The Grand Cherokee 4xe can operate on just an electric current for 25 miles with a full charge. If this is less than your daily routine and you can charge at home, the Grand Cherokee can run as an EV for much of the time. Jeep has pointed out that a Grand Cherokee 4xe has completed the famous 22-mile Rubicon trail entirely in its EV driving mode. What Kind of Drivetrains Are Available? All Grand Cherokee 4xe models are equipped with Jeep’s Quadra-Drive ® Active On-Demand 4x4 system with Selec-terrain ® Traction Management system. Trailhawk and above models feature the Quadra-Lift ® Air Suspension System. Is the Grand Cherokee 4xe the Most Efficient Grand Cherokee Model? The purpose of the Grand Cherokee 4xe is to provide greater power while retaining efficient operation. Whether it is more efficient than V6 models depends on the length of each trip.  The EPA rates the model at 56 MPGe (MPG equivalent based on power usage) when using both EV-only mode and then hybrid mode when the range has been exceeded. Independent of its EV range, the model is rated at 23 combined mpg while the rest of the Grand Cherokee line is rated at 26. How Quick is the Grand Cherokee 4xe? Car and Driver tested a Grand Cherokee Overland 4xe and clocked a 0-60 time of 5.3 seconds before reaching the quarter mile in 13.9 seconds with a trap speed of 100 mph. The quarter mile is 2.1 seconds quicker than that of V6-powered models. They also noted that the 0-60 time is 0.3 seconds quicker than that of the former V8-powered Grand Cherokee model. How Much Can It Tow? The Grand Cherokee 4xe model's maximum towing rating is 6,000 pounds, which is just 200 pounds less than that of the V-6-equipped models. How Long Does it Take to Charge? The Grand Cherokee can be charged with an ordinary wall socket. A full charge from zero will take 8 to 15 hours. A Level 2 home charger should fully charge the battery in approximately 2.5 hours. What Trim Levels are Available for the Grand Cherokee 4xe? Jeep has a complete model line of five trim levels for the Grand Cherokee 4xe. They are: 4xe $60,490 Anniversary Edition $63,485 Trailhawk $66,185 Overland $73,480 Summit $74,670 Summit Reserve $79,150 If your commute or daily driving routine is less than 23 miles, the Grand Cherokee 4xe is a great way to have a comfortable, versatile, powerful, and capable Jeep SUV and essentially say goodbye to gas stations and hello to efficient, emission-free driving. Even if you drive over 23 miles every day, you will find your refueling stops to be infrequent. Yet, you will never have to plan your road trips around charging stations. Pay a visit to Benna CDJR and see how the Grand Cherokee 4xe can bring the wonders of electrification into your life.

How Much Cargo Space is Behind the Rear Seat of a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

We frequently discuss cargo figures, which are always expressed in cubic feet. While it is easy to picture a single box that is 12 inches wide, tall, and deep as a single cubic foot, it is a little harder to visualize 37.7 cubic feet. If you visit our Benna dealership, you can get a better idea of the space, but making that numbers-to-stuff transition can be challenging when shopping at home. Fortunately, the automotive enthusiast site Autoblog has a regular feature that fills the cargo spaces of crossovers, sedans, and other cars with relatable things, giving you a better idea of what those cubic feet figures mean in the rear world. To compare apples to apples, the Autoblog editor always starts with the same six pieces of luggage.  This starts with two midsize roller suitcases that would need to be checked in at the airport (26” long x 16” wide, and 11” deep); added are two kind-of-pushing-it airline carry-on rolling suitcases (24L x 15W x 10D) smaller carry-on (23L x 15W x 10D), and “my wife's fancy overnight bag just to spruce things up a bit” (21L x 12W x 12D). With the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee, the author points out that there is no real storage space under the cargo floor as in some other models. This is because there is a full-size spare underneath, which is a welcome sight for anyone who doesn’t like limping on a compact spare or, worse, trusts their fate to compressed air and a can of goo. As this was the Grand Cherokee 4xe plug-in hybrid, a triangular bag formed around the spare held the charge cord, which the tester described as “brilliant packaging.”  Most PHEVs don’t have a designated and practical location for their charge cord. Getting back to the luggage, these bags are often used to test compact and sub-compact crossovers, and the mid-size Grand Cherokee had no trouble accommodating the six luggage pieces.  He then added a 38-quart Coleman cooler, a Graco Pack n Play playpen, and the box for a Pockit fold-up micro stroller. With these additions, he found there was still some room left over while keeping the rearview mirror operable. The Autoblog editor also made note of Grand Cherokee’s reclining rear seatbacks, which means that the gain in rear seat comfort comes at the expense of cargo space.  He used the seatback angle that best accommodated his child's car seat as a guide for the seatback angle setting. This is a nice feature to have whenever the cargo space behind the seats is not optimized. You will obviously have your own luggage group and other desired travel items. If you want to bring those along when you test drive the Jeep Grand Cherokee or any other of the crossovers and other models here at Benna Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM, please feel free to do so.

Direct Connection Announces High-Performance Crate Engines at SEMA

In addition to disrupting vehicle production, another unfortunate consequence of the recent strike was that Stellantis canceled its display at the 2023 Specialty Equipment Marketing Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas. That is a shame because Dodge clearly had plans to show something that would show a path toward EV performance. Nevertheless, Benna Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram is happy to announce that Dodge’s Direct Connection parts division showed that they are not about to leave petrol performance behind with the announcement of the Hellephant C170 HEMI crate engine as well as several other high-performance crate engines previously seen in recent Dodge Challenger and Charger performance models. The Hellephant C170 gets the top billing as it is nothing less than the same engine under the hood of the Dodge Challenger SRT 170, the last of the “Last Call” series of special Challengers and Chargers and the most powerful muscle car ever sold by a manufacturer. Yes, the Hellephant C170 is the same 6.2-liter HEMI V8 that could produce 1,025 horsepower and peak torque of 945 lb-ft. @ 4,200 when run on E85 ethanol blend.  With an E10 blend, it is rated at 900 horsepower and 810 lb-ft of peak torque. The fully assembled Hellephant C170 6.2L Supercharged Crate HEMI Engine includes the C170 Long Block and features a new 3.0L IHI supercharger with an improved intercooler, 105mm throttle body, and a 3.02-inch pulley for increased boost, along with a new housing, blade, shaft and gear train, and other all component upgrades found in the C170.  The MSRP for the fully complete engine is $27,695. Off Road with the New Jeep Gladiator Rubicon

Gladiator Off-Road Specialists: Willys vs Rubicon vs Mojave

Jeep has long been the most off-road-focused automotive brand in the U.S. if not the world.  And yet, a few decades ago, many people found limitations in their Jeep Wrangler's abilities, particularly when following rugged trails mostly traversed by dirt bikes and ATVs. They turned to the aftermarket, often spending $6,000 to $10,000 on local mechanics, welders, and specialized parts suppliers. Wanting a piece of this business and figuring a purpose-built Jeep would work better than a modified one, a few Jeep true believers in the company managed to convince wary suits to give it a go, and they named the result after one of the most famous trails for such hardcore off-roading, the Rubicon.  A wild success, Jeep gave the same treatment to the Gladiator after its debut. Today, there seems to be no end to the number of extreme off-road versions of pickup trucks, but the Jeep Gladiator has the best platform from which to start. There are nine distinct Gladiator trim levels, all of which are superior off-road machines. Still, models like the Willys, Mojave, and the Rubicon all promise additional off-road capability.  Is there an obvious choice if you want the most off-road capable Gladiator?  The answer is no.  And that is a good thing because all off-roading is not the same. Jeep has it covered, and Benna Chrysler, Jeep Dodge Ram is here to explain which is best at what. Gladiator Willys The Willys derives its name from the World War II - era manufacturer that submitted a winning proposal for the original “General Purpose” vehicle to the U.S. Government and subsequently built a majority of them. The Gladiator lineup includes both the Willys Sport and the Willys.  The first is one step up from the base model, while the Willys is in the middle of the Gladiator hierarchy. The Willys Sport represents the first step toward increased off-road ability due to its 32-inch LT255/75R17C Mud-Terrain Tires and a Trac-Lok ® Limited Slip Rear Differential.  The latter improves off-road ability by locking the rear wheels at about 80%, making it very useful in slippery on-road conditions to maintain stability. The Willys model includes these features plus some non-off-road-focus upgrades from the Sport S and Freedom models, such as keyless entry and the Uconnect ® 4C NAV with 8.4-inch Touchscreen with Navigation and Apple CarPlay ® and Android Auto™ Compatibility.  The Willys has more than enough off-road ability for the off-roader who enjoys challenges but isn’t overtly looking for trouble.  For those trouble seekers, Jeep has a choice of models. Gladiator Rubicon Just outside picturesque Lake Tahoe, California, is a 22-mile destroyer of off-road vehicles known as the Rubicon trail. This “crown jewel of all off-highway trails.” is rated 10 out of a scale of 10 in difficulty and was originally considered the most difficult off-road trail in the world.  This highly technical trail is a mecca for a wide range of off-road vehicles, such as ATVs and dirt bikes. For street-legal vehicles, the challenge is just to get through it without breaking down or needing to be winched to safety.  Boulders and other extremely uneven terrain routinely hang up vehicles with long wheelbases and /or insufficient wheel articulation. Most important to realize, though, is that the tough parts of the course are, by necessity, taken at very slow speeds. Hiking through them is faster. This kind of off-roading is what the Gladiator Rubicon is designed for. A key feature of the Gladiator Rubicon is sway bars that can be disconnected by a dash control to increase wheel articulation. Even then, on its namesake, any one of the wheels will occasionally be suspended in air. To maintain forward motion in these instances, both the front and rear differentials are fully locking. Being able to go slow with precision is more important than going fast. Hence, another crucial factor is the Part-Time Rock-Trac ® 4:1 Low Transfer Case with up to an 84:1 Crawl Ratio to help make all your accelerator pedal adjustments gradual and precise. Another helpful feature available on the Rubicon is the TrailCam-Off Road camera, which enables the driver to see what the underside will encounter when no spotters are available. In addition, the front steel bumper is designed to carry a winch because no one is perfect. Skid plates protect the front bumper, sway bar components, fuel tank, and transfer case. A terrain-specific Off-Road Plus Mode helps the driver manage engine torque and braking in specific circumstances. Gladiator Mojave Off-roading in the Mojave desert and similar areas is the opposite of moving at a walking pace. This is the type of off-roading you see in videos of the Baja 1000 and other world-class rallies. It is fast, rough, and not uncommon for the vehicle to “get air”. Needless to say, this activity gives the vehicle quite a beating, and yet this is the kind of off-roading that is the Gladiator Mojave’s specialty. Consequently, much of the Mohave’s unique components are designed to withstand fast and hard impacts. This starts with FOX 2.5-inch Internal Bypass Shocks featuring external reservoirs to provide enough fluid for the high levels of damping control needed. The track width is also extended both to allow room for those reservoirs and to increase lateral stability. Front Hydraulic Jounce Bumpers soften the blow when even the shocks bottom out. High-clearance fender flares give room for vertical wheel movement. The rear differential fully locks for improved traction, but not the front, as it is inconsequential in this kind of activity. In contrast to the Rubicon model, the low-speed transfer case is designed to operate at speeds up to 50 mph. The Mojave skid plates are designed to withstand harder high-speed impacts and protect the shock reservoirs and the fuel tank, transfer case, and other components. Inside, the seats are reshaped with larger side bolsters to help keep you in place. Which Takes You Where You Want to Go? For all of their specialized abilities, all of the above models are still designed to take care of you when you are not playing on the trails. Thus, they must be adept at normal road-going, hauling things, and keeping you comfortable inside. The best Gladiator for you rests entirely on what you plan to do with it. The Willys will excel in many kinds of off-roading, including those that leave other 4x4 models behind, even as it costs less than the two specialists. The identically-priced Rubicon and Mojave are both extremely capable in conventional off-road use but are ultimately designed for their respective specialties. On the road, the Gladiator Mojave even has the advantage of being best prepared at hitting potholes at speed. Though this covers the general differences between these off-road models, our professional Jeep sales staff can certainly go into more detail. If that sounds interesting to you, pay a visit to Benna Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram and see the Gladiator model up close.  Note that as of this writing, Gladiator models are currently offered for 15% off the MSRP. Happy Trails.

Best Long-Term Maintenance Plan for the Ram 1500

Everyone understands that regular maintenance is the best course of action to prolong the life of a vehicle. At Benna CDJR, we strive to make all of your vehicle maintenance as trouble-free as possible. It is worth noting that vehicle maintenance schedules are established when the vehicle is new, before few, if any, versions of the model have reached high mileage in real-world use. The enthusiast site Motorbicuit has taken a look at the Dodge Ram 1500 maintenance schedule and then talked to current high mileage Ram 1500 owners and worked out their own recommended maintenance schedule. The Ram 1500 comes with a maintenance schedule for up to 144,000 miles. But, in the words of Motorbiscuit, “ Some owners claim Ram 1500s are so reliable that they don’t consider their Ram trucks high mileage until they reach the 200k mark.” The Ram 1500 design only dates back to 2019, so examples of models that have surpassed the 144K mark aren’t common. Josh Wheeler is a diesel mechanic who regularly travels across the country and puts about 50K miles per year on his 2019 Ram 1500 Limited, the odometer of which now shows 190K miles. He let Ram’s built-in systems tell him when to change the oil, which had him service it about every 8K to 10K miles. After his 160K oil change, Josh sent samples of the old oil to two separate labs for analysis. The unanimous results were that the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 “Had a perfect score.” His worst issue was a cracked exhaust manifold which he addressed promptly. The Maintenance Schedule Motorbiscuit published the following maintenance schedule based on the official Ram recommendations and some additional input from the CarEdge.com website. Here is their recommendation: Mileage Service 8k miles Oil change & tire rotation 16k miles Oil change & tire rotation 20k miles Inspect: brake pads, tie rods, and all front suspension components 24k miles Oil change & tire rotation 30k miles Inspect: Brakes, front suspension components, CV joints, transfer case fluid, and the condition of the transfer case and axle 32k miles Oil change, tire rotation Replace: Air filter and spark plugs 40k miles Oil change & tire rotation 48k miles Oil change, tire rotation Replace: Spark plugs 56k miles Oil change & tire rotation 60k miles Inspect: Brakes, suspension components, and all filters Check and/or replace: transmission fluid, engine coolant, transfer case fluid, and brake fluid 64k miles Oil change, tire rotation Replace: Air filter, spark plugs, and spark plug wires 72k miles Oil change & tire rotation 80k miles Oil change, tire rotation, cooling system flush 88k miles Oil change & tire rotation 96k miles Oil change & tire rotation Replace: Air filter, spark plugs, and spark plug wires 100k miles Inspect: Brakes, suspension components, CV joints, and all filters Check and/or replace: transmission fluid, engine coolant, transfer case fluid, and brake fluid 104k miles Oil change, tire rotation, cooling system flush 112k miles Oil change & tire rotation 120k miles Oil change, tire rotation, serpentine/drive belt replacement, transmission fluid service, transfer case fluid service Inspect Brakes and suspension components. Check and/or replace: Engine coolant and brake fluid 128k miles Oil change & tire rotation Replace: Air filter and spark plug/wires 136k miles Oil change & tire rotation 144k miles Oil change & tire rotation Replace Spark plugs and cabin air filter Following this maintenance schedule not only protects your car and you should you need to make a warranty claim, we will also have your entire service history all in one place if you have the maintenance performed by our Benna CDJR service professionals. That could increase your vehicle's resale value. We offer you a challenge. Let’s work together to see if we can set a record for longest lasting Ram 1500.
