Ushering in a New Era for EV Owners Everywhere

As we were saying, Stellantis and its partners are in the process of ushering in a new era for EV owners everywhere. While the initial 30,000-plus charge points are set for construction in North America, there are already plans to expand this extensive network all around the globe. But, before we get too far ahead of ourselves, let’s take a minute to discuss what we can expect from these next-generation charging stations.

What We Can Expect From These Next-Generation Charging Stations

Specifically designed with the customer’s experience in mind, these charge points will provide users with smooth, comfortable, and unparalleled charging opportunities. In addition to best-in-class charging capabilities, customers will also have several amenities to choose from while fueling up their vehicles. Included in this lengthy list of bonuses, one will find public bathrooms, food service sites, and even local retail operations. Furthermore, every charging station will offer both Combined Charging System (CCS) as well as North American Charging Standard (NACS) connectors, thereby serving every EV on the market today.

In other words, when you do business with industry-leading companies such as these, you can always expect them to follow through on their promises of exceptional customer service, uncompromising quality of products, unparalleled reliability, etc. In short, if their individual endeavors are already among the best in the industry, then just imagine what can happen when they all come together towards a common goal. Suffice it to say, this joint venture could very well be one of the most important moments in the history of EVs in North America, let alone the entire world.

For Benna CDJR’s fourth installment on the top 50 Dodge models of all time, we show the models that almost made it to the top ten and may well belong there, in your opinion. As before, the rankings were determined by Autoevolution. At this level, most of these models will be familiar to Dodge enthusiasts.

20. 1984 Caravan

It may not light up the streets or adrenalin like Dodge’s muscle cars, but this could well be the most influential model Dodge ever produced. The design brief was to develop a vehicle that could seat up to eight people, provide car-like comfort, and fit in a standard-height garage. Originally based on the humble K-car platform, the Caravan, and its Plymouth Voyager twin introduced the modern Minivan concept to America and, in some ways, the Western world, as it beat the similar-in-concept Renault Espace by a few months. With the addition of a Chrysler version called Town & Country, the minivans sold over 14.6 million units worldwide. In the process, they created an entirely new genre and began the decline of the station wagon body style.

19. 2021 Durango SRT Hellcat

By 2021, Dodge had decades of experience dropping absurdly overpowered drivetrains in moderately sized vehicles, and they weren’t about to let that fade with the popularity of SUVs. As Dodge’s only SUV at the time, the Durango was fitted with the Hellcat engine previously seen in the Challenger and Charger. It produced an insane 710 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque, making it the most powerful gas-powered SUV ever made. The engine hauled this hauler from 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds, which makes it the quickest 3-row SUV ever. The model was dropped in 2022 but returned for 2023.

18. 2004 Ram Rumble Bee

The Rumble Bee name was derived from the Coronet-based Super Bee muscle car. Though also available in black, the Solar Yellow version was covered in enough day-glo yellow paint to be seen from space. Exclusively available with the regular cab and short bed, the Rumble Bee featured 20-inch wheels, lower body cladding, a bed cover, and of course, the black stripe (yellow on black trucks). The trusty 5.7-liter Hemi V8 sat under the hood scoop producing 345 horsepower and 375 lb-ft of torque. Over 10,000 Rumble Bees were produced across two years.

17. 1970 Super Bee Hemi

Speaking of the Super Bee, it first appeared in 1968 as the Dodge’s counterpart to the better-known Plymouth Roadrunner. Both featured a low-priced bare-bones version of the mid-size platform but with all the available high-performance hardware. Drivetrains included the 383 Magnum V8 and the 440 with the six-pack carburetor system. A grand total of 42 units were built with the 425 -horsepower 426 Hemi, making them the rarest Bees in the world. The 1970 model makes this list due to the very aggressive twin grill treatment, a version of which was picked up by the 1971 Charger.

16. 1970 Challenger T/A

Late to the pony car party, Dodge immediately entered the Challenger into the SCCA Trans-Am series, which had become the competition home of Mustangs, Camaros, Barracudas, AMC Javelins, and Firebirds (which famously appropriated the series’ name). As with the Mustang 302, Dodge figured a small block was the best way to compete, so both the race car and required homologation production cars were fit with the 340 cu-in. V8 with the six-pack carburetor system, which produced 290 horsepower in the T/A. A heavy-duty suspension supported the car, and disc brakes were fitted in the front. A fiberglass hood was fitted as a weight-saving feature. The T/A was only in showrooms for the 1970 model year, with 2399 units finding buyers.

15. 2017 Viper GTS-R

The GTS-R was the Viper’s swan song. Built for the Viper’s last year and commemorating the model’s competing in the GTS endurance racing class, the 100-unit $145,000 GTS-R, stayed as close to the racing vehicle as street legal requirements would allow. All were white with twin blue stripes and featured the massive rear wing, front corner winglets, a front air dam, and seven holes in the hood plus front fender vents. As always, the Viper was powered by a naturally aspirated V10, with this version displaying 8.4 liters and rated at 645 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque.

14. 1968 Charger R/T

Introduced two years earlier as a dramatically shaped mid-size fastback, Dodge changed things up for 1968. They kept and improved upon the simple but aggressive body-wide grille that concealed quad headlamps. But behind was a less dramatic but arguably better-proportioned coupe body with coke-bottle curves for the lower “fuselage” body. This is the Charger everyone remembers. R/T stood for Road/Track, though Dodge played with the term “Rapid Transit” in their marketing. Under the T/A’s low flat hood was a standard 375 hp 440 cu-in Magnum V8 with the 425 hp 426 Hemi as an available option. The Charger R/T lasted until 1971, when it had a major design change. The 426 Hemi disappeared, but the 440 remained, though was detuned to 280 hp because…70s.

13. 2015 Charger SRT Hellcat

It was a disappointment to many Dodge fans when the 2006 Charger returned as a 4-door sedan. But it was rear-drive and full-sized in a world of front-drive mid-size sedans and even built from the bones of the previous Mercedes-Benz E-Class, so it was still rather special. A redesign for 2011 upped the aggression, but it was the facelift for 2015 that really hit the mark. Not only did the front’s low profile grille with integrated headlights do justice to the original, but with the SRT Hellcat, it was blatantly overpowered to an extent the original Charger could only dream of. Its supercharged 6.2-liter V8 produced a supercar-level 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. Supercar performance figures followed, including 0 to 60 in 3.4 seconds and having a 207 mph top speed. It was the fastest production 4-door sedan to be had anywhere and remained so until Dodge added “Redeye” to the name in 2021.

12. 2015 Challenger SRT Hellcat

Built on the Charger and Chrysler 300 platform, the revived Challenger had something of a disadvantage against the smaller, similarly revived Camaro and contemporary Mustang. Dodge responded by supercharging its biggest Hemi V8, christening it the Hellcat, and putting it in both the Challenger and the above-mentioned Charger. With the same 707 horsepower and torque as the Charger, the Challenger was curiously slower than the Charger with a 0-60 time of 3.6 seconds. Nevertheless, the power was way beyond anything in the Camaro and Mustang stables, including the Shelby GT500. Dodge has since made even more powerful Challengers, but it was the SRT Hellcat that took that first giant leap.

11. 1998 Viper GT2 Championship Edition

Inspired by the GTS-R that took a class win in the 1997 FIA GT Championship, the limited-edition 1998 GT2 started what the 2017 GTS-R finished. Like the latter, it had a front air dam, front corner winglets, lower side sills, and a strut-supported rear wing, but all were more subtle and better integrated into the overall design. In this form, the 8.0-liter V10 produced 460 horsepower, which was a slight bump over the rest of the model line and over a hundred horses over the contemporary Corvette. Like the GTS-R, production was limited to 100 units making it a sought-after collectible today.

Every single model year, the Wrangler remains a clear fan favorite. With legendary off-road capability, state-of-the-art technology, and unparalleled versatility, there is nothing in the world quite like a Jeep Wrangler. With that in mind, it should come as no surprise that so many of our loyal customers have been asking about the 2024 Jeep Wrangler pricing information. As always, our team at Benna CDJR has everything you need to know, so keep on reading below!

How Much Does the 2024 Jeep Wrangler Cost?

Now, let’s get right down to it. How much does the 2024 Jeep Wrangler cost? Of course, the answer depends on which model you choose. For the 2024 production year, the Jeep Wrangler is available in three configurations: 2-door, 4-door, and 4xe (the plug-in hybrid model). What’s more, there are four different engines to choose from: a 2.0-liter turbocharged PHEV 4xe with 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque; a 2.0-liter turbocharged I-4 engine that generates up to 270 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque; a 3.6-liter V-6 that serves up 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque; and, last but not least, a top-of-the-line 6.4-liter V-8 behemoth with power ratings of up to 470 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque.

2024 Jeep Wrangler Trim Levels

Furthermore, all of these Wrangler customizations can be found across the following trim levels: Sport, Sport S, Willys, Sahara, High Altitude, Rubicon, Rubicon X and Rubicon 392. Please note, however, that only half of the trim grades come with all three configurations of the 2024 Wrangler. The other half of the lineup, on the other hand, is only able to offer one or two of them. For more information on which configurations are available on which trim levels, as well as all of their respective starting U.S. manufacturer’s suggested retail prices (MSRPs), take a moment to explore our detailed outline below.

Front View of 2024 Jeep Wrangler Lineup_o

Starting MSRPs for Each 2024 Wrangler Model

So, without further ado, here are the starting MSRPs for each 2024 Jeep Wrangler model (excluding the $1,795 destination fee). On the base Sport trim, the 2-Door starts at $31,895 while the 4-Door configuration begins at $35,895. The next trim level, Sport S, looks like this: $35,395 for the 2-Door, $39,395 for the 4-Door, and $49,995 for the 4xe. Then, when Willys enters the conversation, it steps things up as follows: $39,395 for the 2-Door, $43,395 for the 4-Door, and $54,735 for the 4xe. Sahara, however, skips the 2-Door, as it only offers either a $47,825 4-Door model or a $56,845 4xe.

Then, to begin the second half of the 2024 Jeep Wrangler lineup, the High Altitude is only available as a 4xe for $66,995. Luckily, the Rubicon returns with all three configurations available; starting at $45,395 for the 2-Door, $49,395 for the 4-Door, and $60,585 for the 4xe. Next, while the Rubicon X is the penultimate trim grade, it is, nonetheless, the final one with all three configurations of the 2024 Jeep Wrangler. In exchange, it asks for $54,895 for the 2-Door, $58,895 for the 4-Door, and $69,085 for the 4xe. Last but certainly not least, residing at the top of this year’s lineup, one will find a lone Rubicon 392 4-Door with a starting MSRP of $87,595.

Through both design and soundproofing materials, considerable attention has gone into models under the Stellantis brand to keep road, wind, and other unwanted noise out of the cabin. In addition, models have been equipped with sound systems to play your favorite tunes from base systems, scaling all the way up to the incredible McIntosh audio system in the Jeep Grand Cherokee model line. The challenge is that there are some sounds from outside that you are meant to hear. The whole point of emergency vehicle sirens is to alert others on the road of their presence.

Stellantis Emergency Vehicle Alert System (EVAS) Message

EVAS Gets the message Through to You

Stellantis’ solution to this paradox is the Emergency Vehicle Alert System (EVAS) which uses Uconnect to alert drivers when emergency vehicles or roadway hazards are nearby. EVAS has been a standard feature of Uconnect on all models since the 2018 model year and thus is already on 1.8 million Chrysler, Dodge, Ram, and Jeep® brand vehicles in the United States and Canada. In other words, any new car Benna CDJR has sold for the past five years.

EVAS works by integrating with the HAAS Alert Safety Cloud, the nation’s largest vehicle-to-everything (V2X) platform for digital alerting. How it works is that emergency vehicles, as well as tow trucks and work zones, send a V2X signal into the Safety Cloud, which then sends it to any vehicle that can receive it, to notify its driver of their presence. That alert cuts through the vehicle’s soundproofing and pauses the audio system with an audio beep accompanied by an explanation on the infotainment display. The system can often inform you if the emergency vehicle is ahead or behind you.

“The widespread deployment of EVAS in North America demonstrates how Stellantis is harnessing the power of V2X connectivity and in-vehicle technology to make mobility safer for our customers,” said Yves Bonnefont, Stellantis chief software officer. “Care for our customers that is second to none in every market where we sell is the foundation of our transformation to a mobility tech company. We’re proud to be the first global automaker to make V2X digital alerting a standard safety feature for our connected customers, and we are continuously looking to expand its capabilities.”

Stellantis Hazard Enhanced Location Protocol (HELP) Message

HELP is on the Way

The next step in the process will be what is known as Hazard Enhanced Location Protocol (HELP) in which a disabled vehicle can send a notice of its location to the HASS Alert Safety Cloud, which transmits a notice to vehicles in the same manner as EVAS. This will give drivers about 15-20 seconds of advance warning of the disabled vehicle’s location, which is roughly a quarter mile at highway speeds. Just consider how useful this can be in a heavy storm or thick fog when vehicles may have had an incident but, even with hazard lights, may not be visible until they are very and possibly too close.

HELP can be activated manually by the driver when the vehicle is stationary or automatically in safety-critical situations, such as collisions or tire blowouts. It is possible it could be activated automatically when the hazard lights are activated.

“Technology we offer today helps set the stage for future vehicle innovations,” said Mamatha Chamarthi, Stellantis head of global software business management. “It begins with the foundation that safety should come standard. It grows from there to offer owners convenience features on demand when they connect, enroll and subscribe. These software capabilities result in an enhanced and highly valued customer experience with our iconic brands.” As mentioned, EVAS has been on Stellantis vehicles since the 2018 model year, and many owners may not have been aware of it until they received their first alert and then wondered how that alert happened. HELP has not been fully developed as of yet, but look for it on future models from Benna CDJR.

TAWA Auto Roundup Logo

Stellantis brought back several awards from the 2023 annual Texas Automotive Writers Association (TAWA) Auto Roundup. Held in late March at Eagles Canyon Raceway in Decatur, Texas, Benna CDJR is proud to say that the Lone Star scribes showed some love for Dodge, Chrysler, and Alfa Romeo, bringing home a combined seven awards from the event. Ram and Jeep will likely get their turn when trucks are reviewed at the organization’s Texas Truck Rodeo in the fall.

2023 Dodge Hornet GT in Acapulco Gold

Dodge Hornet: Crossover Utility Vehicle of Texas

The Dodge Hornet is the newest vehicle introduced across the Stellantis family and takes aim at the very popular compact crossover segment. TAWA took an instant liking to it, giving it the Utility Vehicle (CUV) of Texas title award but also bestowing honors such as Best Value, Best New Interior, and Best New Feature, for a total of four awards. The Best Feature award is for the class-exclusive PowerShot feature, which supplies a burst of 30 horsepower for the electrified Dodge Hornet R/T plug-in hybrid. The R/T has a rear-mounted motor that provides an estimated 30 miles of EV range and a combined 288 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque.

Dodge Challenger SRT Black Ghost

Dodge Challenger SRT Black Ghost: Performance Vehicle of Texas

One of the seven “Last Call” special-edition Challenger and Charger models in their final year of muscle car production, The 807-horsepower Dodge Challenger Black Ghost channels the spirit of a legendary street racer that prowled Detroit’s famed Woodward Avenue in the 1970s. Only 300 of the Black Ghost “Last Call” models will be produced, all in Pitch Black and in Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody form.

2023 Chrysler Pacifica Pinnacle Hybrid, shown in Fathom Blue

Chrysler Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid: Family Vehicle of Texas

Probably the least surprising of the awards, the Pacifica took the Family Vehicle of Texas award for the 6th consecutive year. Minivans are known for carrying out commuting and domestic chores during the week and then being the designated vehicle for road trips, which is a perfect scenario for a plug-in hybrid drivetrain. Yet the Pacific remains the only available plug-in hybrid minivan in the country. The Pacifica PHEV provides an estimated 30 EV miles, 80 MPGe, and more than 500 miles total range. For this and other reasons, the Pacifica is also the most awarded minivan over the last six years, with more than 170 honors and industry accolades since its introduction.

Alfa Romeo Stelvio: Best Mid-Size CUV

For this award, it probably didn’t hurt that votes were decided after the cars were run on the Eagles Canyon Raceway. Because while the Stelvio is a beautiful piece of machinery full of Italian design and elegant detailing, it’s the performance that makes it unforgettable. It isn’t just the 280 hp and 306 lb-ft of torque, it is the character of the engine as you put it through its paces, the sublime feel of the steering as it shows its sure-footedness on the curves, and the confidence one feels from the brakes. The Stelvio is a performance thoroughbred, and TAWA recognized just that.

We thank TAWA for recognizing the special nature of these Stellantis models. Of course, Benna CDJR is where you can see the all-new Dodge Hornet and Chrysler Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid up close and experience them on the road. With production limited to just 300, we may not have a Challenger SRT Black Ghost in stock, but you can experience other Challengers, learn more about the Black Ghost, and put yourself in for a pre-order until they are all spoken for.

Ram Promaster EV with illuminated headlights

Though the first Ram ProMaster EV has some time to go before becoming a part of the Benna CJDR inventory, Stellanis has announced a major fleet sale for the model to the Merchants Fleet fleet management company. Merchants Fleet has agreed to purchase 12,500 Ram ProMaster EVs over the next several years. The announcement comes on the heels of Amazon being the first commercial customer for the new Ram ProMaster EV, with plans to add thousands of Ram ProMaster EVs to their fleet each year.

The Ram ProMaster EV will debut later this year as the first electric van from the Ram brand. Details have not been announced though it is expected to be very similar to the E-Ducato van by Stellantis-owned Fiat that is already for sale in Europe. That vehicle offers a choice of a 47.0 kWh (kilowatt-hour) battery pack or an optional 79.0 kWh pack.

“At Ram, we are laser-focused on offering our customers electrified solutions with disruptive, leading-edge, advanced technology that meets real-world demands, and we are thrilled Merchants Fleet recognizes our all-new ProMaster EV will do exactly that,” said Mike Koval Jr., Ram brand CEO – Stellantis. “Our all-new ProMaster EV is Ram’s first EV offering in North America and an integral step in our electrification journey that will offer more efficient options to all of our customers.”

Merchants Fleet is the fastest-growing fleet management company in North America. This announcement underscores the company’s leadership position in offering EV vehicles to its customers. The additional inventory from Stellantis will allow Merchants to provide fleet managers with an extensive selection of short- and long-term EV leasing options, allowing the customers flexibility in incorporating EVs into their own fleets.

Fiat E-Ducato 3/4 Perspective

“We take great pride in our partnership with Stellantis, which plays a crucial role in our strategy to create an innovative EV ecosystem for our clients,” said Brad Burgess, senior VP of fleet sales and strategic solutions at Merchants Fleet. “This collaboration allows us to provide our clients with exclusive access to EVs and a level of flexibility they simply can’t get anywhere else.”

Starting with the recently introduced RAM 1500 REV, Ram will offer electrified solutions in the majority of its segments by 2025 and in all of its segments no later than 2030. Ram ProMaster EV is the first of 26 planned new electric commercial-vehicle launches that will contribute to reaching a 40% zero-emission mix by the end of the decade.

The Ram ProMaster EV is expected to be a 2024 model and will be available in dealerships next year. Keep checking this blog for more details as they become available, and let us know if you would be interested in adding the ProMaster EV to your fleet.

Is There an Electric Model?

First and foremost, is there an electric model? For the first time ever in the history of the brand, Dodge is proud to introduce an electrified performance hybrid: the 2024 Hornet R/T. Officially the most powerful utility vehicle in its segment, the 2024 Dodge Hornet R/T delivers 288 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque while offering 32 miles of all-electric range via a 15.5-kWh lithium-ion battery, as well as 77 MPGe and 360 miles of total range. Additionally, one can select from three different driving modes: Hybrid, Electric, and E-Save. As if that wasn’t enough, this groundbreaking vehicle comes with a class-exclusive, on-demand PowerShot feature. With it, the user can release a burst of 30 horsepower, which allows the Hornet R/T to go from zero to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds. Of course, all of this is just the beginning of what the 2024 Hornet R/T has to offer.

What are the Gas Engine Specifications?

As for the gas engine specifications, the exclusively-fuel-powered Hornet GT model is home to a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder Hurricane4 engine. This traditional titan produces up to 268 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque as commanded by its fully electronic nine-speed transmission. Plus, with stop-start technology on its side, the 2024 Hornet GT reduces its emissions while still providing its drivers with an undeniably powerful, punchy, and passionate drivetrain. In other words, imagine everything you love about good old-fashioned Dodge engineering but with the technology of today; it just doesn’t get any better than that.

How Much Does it Cost?

Last but certainly not least, one of the most common questions of all, how much does it cost? For the 2024 model year, the starting MSRP of each Dodge Hornet trim level is as follows: $30,735 for the base GT; $35,735 for the GT Plus; $40,935 for the R/T; and $45,935 for the R/T Plus. This is Benna CDJR’s third installment on the top 50 Dodge models of all time. As before, the rankings were determined by Autoevolution. This edition looks at the 21st through 30 best-ranked models. As the middle of this five-part series, it is only appropriate that the vehicles are a mix of the obscure and obvious.

30. 2005 Ram 2500 Power Wagon

If the trucks had always been in a separate Ram division, this would be a shorter series of articles. The Power Wagon name was first used in 1945 for the civilian version of vehicles it developed for the war and remained in use with updates until 1971. Dodge revived the name in 2005 for an off-road-focused version of its 2500 heavy-duty series, and it continues to this day. Wearing the 2nd generation of the “big-rig” front-end styling, the 2005 model sure looked the part, with a raised ride height sitting loftily over 33-inch all-terrain tires, flared fenders, and clearance lights.

A 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 produced 345 horsepower and 375 lb-ft of torque, and it could actually be paired with a 6-speed manual, though most opted for the 5-speed automatic with a heavy-duty torque converter. Additional hardware included electronically controlled locking differentials, a disconnecting front sway bar, gas-charged shocks, extensive skid plates, and strengthened steering gear.

29. 2017 Challenger GT AWD

Still a popular model to this day, the Challenger GT AWD was the first-ever muscle car with all-wheel drive, which still has no counterpart from Ford or Chevrolet. The system,  also found in the Charger, was rear-biased with a maximum of 38% of torque being distributed to the front and with an active transfer case and a front-axle disconnect system  The car basically behaves as a rear-driver until the roads get slick. The 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 was and is the only engine to power the AWD system.

28. 1963 Polara Max Wedge

One nice thing about this series is that it shines some light on models that would otherwise be considered, well… ugly. Though a vast styling improvement from the 1962 model, the separated and different height headlights were polarizing, if you excuse the pun. While the Polara name was introduced just three years earlier on full-size models, the ‘63 is the second year and last year on a mid-size platform. The lighter cars had great success at NASCAR, though like all Max Wedges, this model was pointed toward Super Stock drag racing.

The 426 cubic-inch V-8 produced 425 horsepower with an “I’ll-take-Premium-please” 13.5:1 compression ratio. A limited number of non-racing models made it to the streets where they were, of course, immediately raced.

 27. 1963 330 Max Wedge

Originating in 1962, the Dodge Mid-size platform carried the 330, Polara, and even the Dart names for a few years. The 330 was only fitted with the 426 Max Wedge and was stripped down to be even more drag-racing focused than the Polara. With its short-lived name and even fewer models produced, the 1963 330 Max Wedge is a sought-after collectible.

26. 1965 Coronet HEMI A990

In 1965, the Polara name returned to the full-size Dodge platform to be replaced by the Coronet name, which means “Small Crown”. As with many mid-60s models on this list, the A990 was dedicated to Super Stock drag racing, most evidenced by an acid-dipped body that was 60% thinner than normal and a one-inch shorter wheelbase. All convenience features were removed, and two simple bucket seats were brought in from the A100 van. Replacing the Max Wedge was the now-famous 426 HEMI which produced 425 horsepower.

25. 1968 Dart HEMI L023

Dodge’s name shuffling must have confused everyone in the early 60s. As recently as 1961, the Dart name was on its full-size line. In 1962 it accompanied the Polara and 330 names on the mid-size platform, and one year later, it replaced the Lancer name for the compact line, where it remained for a while. By 1963, the Dart had shed its Virgil Exner awkward styling, and another redesign in 1967 made it a pretty sharp-looking car.

Though most were powered by the 225 slant-six, Dodge wasted no time installing V-8s, including the small block 340, the big block 383, and even a 440 for a short period. The most bonkers Dart, however, was another Class A Super Stock special with the 426 HEMI stuffed under its high-scooped hood. Hurst Performance provided many of the bits between the engine and rear wheels. Adding more lightness to the compact platform, the car had a fiberglass hood and fenders, acid-dipped doors, lighter glass, and still had the van-sourced bucket seats. The LO23 name came from the production code, and the model came with a no-warranty disclaimer.

24. 1945 Power Wagon

We referenced the 1945 Power Wagon in #40 above, and here it is. The Power Wagon was a civilian version of the military-spec WC series. With a one-ton rating, the Power Wagon was the first civilian 4×4 medium-duty truck produced by a major manufacturer. It is clear that the Power Wagon was decades away from the “lifestyle” pickup era. It had a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 8,700 pounds and a maximum payload of 3,000 pounds, the bed was 8 feet long, and its creature comforts were designed to accommodate soldiers who had no choice in the matter. It had redesigns through the years, but the 230-cubic-inch (3.8-liter) flathead inline-six was the only available engine until 1961.

23. 1992 Viper RT/10

If you have been reading this series, you have been wondering when this car would appear. Though viewed as a competitor to the only other domestic high-performance 2-seater, the Corvette, the original concept was to be a modern version of the Shelby Cobra, which it vaguely resembles from certain angles. But while the Cobra was an English car with American muscle, the Viper was an American car with Italian flavor. Under the hood was a 400 hp, 410 lb-ft V-10 based on the V10 truck engine. Chrysler-owned Lamborghini took the engine and re-engineered it to be an aluminum block and heads.

The Viper also resembled the Cobra as a pure sports car, lacking traction control, anti-lock brakes, airbags, air conditioning, a real roof, and even exterior door handles. As the years progressed, some of those features found their way into the car.

22. 2019 Challenger Scat Pack 1320

After the 808 hp SRT Demon launched for one year in 2018, the Scat Pack 1320’s 485 horsepower from its 6.4-liter HEMI might sound a bit tame. But with a 0-60 in about four seconds, the Scat Pack still had a drag racing focus with drag-spec wheels and tires, adaptive damping, extreme-duty 41-spline half shafts, and a trans-brake. Options included deleting the rear and front passenger seat, all leading to a car that could be easily modified to Stock and Super Stock class regulations for NHRA competition. Something the Demon could not claim.

21. 2016 Viper ACR

The two best-known Vipers are the original above and this monster. ACR stands for American Club Racing, and racing was clearly what this car was about. While the original Viper design didn’t give a fig about downforce, the carbon-fiber bits from the leading front air dam to the side winglets to the monster wing in the rear, pressed the car to the pavement by as much as 1500 pounds while cornering.

By now, the V-10 produced 645 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of screaming grunt. Bilstein designed the suspension and the carbon fiber brakes. Its 7:01 Nurburgring Nordschleife lap time didn’t break the record set by the Lamborghini Huracán Performante LP640-4 the previous year, but it was close.

Ram introduces the limited-run Ram 1500 Rebel Lunar and Havoc Editions. Previous use of both names has been limited to the big, bad 1500 TRX, but these two editions are built from the Rebel trim.  Because of their limited run, the Rebel Havoc or Lunar Editions may not appear in the Benna CDJR inventory but can be ordered.

Exteriors that Get Noticed

Color separates the Havoc from the Lunar trim. The Havoc features an attention-grabbing Baja Yellow exterior, while the Lunar has a menacing Ceramic Gray.   Graphics and trim are identical on both, which includes bold, black “Rebel” graphics on the hood and rear fenders, black badging, bumper, and an all-black grille.

The Rebel  Hemi V-8 Option is Standard

Behind the black-on-black grille is a 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 producing 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired with an eight-speed transmission. The Havoc and Lunar editions ride on the Rebel’s 1-inch raised ride height, with 18-inch gloss black 6-spoke wheels wearing 33-inch LT275/70R18E OWL All-Terrain tires. Also included is the new-for-2023 Selec-Speed Control, which allows the truck to maintain consistent speed while traversing variations in slope. Using both engine torque and brake pressure to help keep a consistent pace, allows the driver to focus on steering on rough terrain.

Standard Level 2 Equipment Package

Inside, the Havoc and Lunar Editions come standard with the Rebel Level 2 equipment package, key features of which, on top of the extensive Level 1 group features like a 12.0-Inch touchscreen display, smartphone compatibility, 8-way power driver’s seat, and much more, Level 2 includes:

  • 19-Speaker Harman Kardon® Premium Sound system
  • Heated front seats and steering wheel
  • Front Door Passive Entry and Lock
  • ParkSense® Front and Rear Park-Assist with Stop
  • Rain-Sensitive Windshield Wipers
  • Rear Under-Seat Storage Compartment
  • Remote-Start System
  • Security Alarm

Equipped with everything mentioned above, the Rebel Havoc and Lunar Editions have a starting MSRP of $72,205.  As mentioned, both the Rebel Havoc and Lunar Editions have limited availability and may not appear in our inventory.
