When Will Jeep Make an Electric Vehicle?
Over the decades, Jeep hasn’t been best known for developing efficient vehicles, even though it has done exactly what many times. What Jeep is known for is rugged off-road capability. The North American International Auto Show is one of the most well-known automotive events in the world! Better known as the Detroit Auto Show, this event is a must-go for all car lovers, whether their passions run towards the futuristic concept car reveals, to the nostalgic, classic car exhibits. You can watch all manner of extravagant vehicles cruise the streets of Detroit and visit each of the indoor and outdoor events to get your automotive fill. But what do you do with the rest of the family?
Look no further than…The Detroit Auto Show? Yep, the Auto Show has announced that they will feature new attractions specifically geared (see what I did there?) towards the family. The attractions will take place throughout the North American International Auto Show Public Show presented by State Farm from September 17-25.
Beginning with the “Dinosaur and Off-Road Vehicle Encounter” which opens on September 16th during the Charity Preview night, visitors will get the chance to travel to the age of the dinosaurs on a Jurassic walk-thru experience. You’ll see more than 80 life-sized and life-like dinosaurs such as the T-Rex, Velociraptor, and stegosaurus. Throughout the experience, featured rugged off-road SUVs and trucks will be on display that look right at home in the prehistoric world. Enjoy Story Time, crafts and fossil digs, and other interactive and educational activities. And don’t forget the animatronic Dinosaur Band! Also, you might get a chance to see some of the dino babies and adults that are roaming around the exhibit or take a moment a ride the T-Rex ATVs and Dinosaur Scooters. This event requires an auto show ticket and rides are an additional cost.
While we are in the prehistoric era, why don’t you check out Fred Flintstone’s own original car! The car was built by George Barris for the movie “The Flintstones” in 1994. It is on loan from the LeMay – America’s Car Museum in Tacoma, WA and will be on display at the Dinosaur and Off-Road Vehicle Encounter.
Visitors will get the chance to experience some vehicles first-hand. Active tracks inside the Huntington Place Convention Center allow attendees to experience some of the products through vehicle rides such as Camp Jeep, Bronco Mountain, and the F-150 Lightning and Ram Truck ride activations. Outdoor activities include taking a Volkswagen or Chevrolet along the street course ride-and-drive on the 2023 Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix Circuit.

There’s really nothing not to love about Monster Trucks. The Monster Truck Throwdown will be held daily at the Hart Plaza and will feature the Bigfoot #20, the first battery-powered Monster Truck in the world. See Bigfoot #20, Sinistar, and Raminator in the Monster Truck Car Crush Exhibitions. Get in on the experience with the Raminator Picture Truck Experience and the Monster Ride Truck Experience and then meet the drivers, collect autographs and get up close to the trucks to see just how big they really are. And don’t forget to check out the Bigfoot #1, the original Monster Truck, on display and check out the Freestyle Motocross performances.
I could go on and on about the events the Detroit Auto Show has put together for the families to enjoy. We haven’t even talked about the flight demonstrations at the “Air Mobility Experience”. Have you ever seen an electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft? Or an amphibious sport plane? Then there’s Duck Duck Jeep happening with Jeep owners (you lucky Ducks), not to mention the “World’s Largest Rubber Duck”! There will be themed days such as Motown Tuesday, Saturday Family Day, and crowd favorite: Sunday Funday. Live music, the Round One Gaming Lab, and whole list of programming free of charge is being offered at the community and downtown area parks round out the events. “These new themed activities are a perfect way to welcome all ages back to the show after more than three years.” Said Jo Lunghamer, Detroit Auto Show Chairman. “Families can come to the auto show and find their next new vehicle, and at the same time, make some special memories together and create plenty of great selfies and social posts to share. Visitors can expect a nine-day festival and celebration of family, fun, and mobility.”
It’s time to take the whole family and introduce them to the automotive world! Here at Benna Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, we are very excited about these added family events. Has Your Jeep Been “Ducked” Yet?
If you’re out on the road, you’ve probably seen by now, one, two, or maybe more Jeeps with rubber duckies on the dash. There is actually a kind meaning behind these old-school little duckies you’d typically find in a crane machine or a dollar store.
As you are well aware, the pandemic put most of us in a complete life-altering state, to say the least. Finding new ways to socialize and stay busy amidst a time of worldwide shutdown was quite the challenge. Some people took up cooking and music lessons, others started hiking and discovering new hobbies…one person in particular, Allison Parliament, from Ontario, Canada, found a way to spread cheer during this dark time by simply placing a .25 cent rubber duck on or around Jeeps she would come across while she was out and about.
Why Jeeps you ask? Allison had always loved Jeeps growing up. She bought her very own Jeep in 2020. And, the Jeep culture is no stranger to having their own formalities, like the two-finger Jeep wave, “It’s a Jeep Thing” language and Jeep clubs, so what’s one more? Her philosophy was quite simple. To leave a positive message in hopes of spreading kindness around the world during a time when socialization was at a standstill.
This Duck, Duck, Jeep trend has since spread like wildfire (or pond water?). In less than a year, since its start in 2020, Allison’s random act of kindness has turned into a world-wide sensation. In fact, there are now over 50,000 followers on the social media pages Allison created for this specific act. People are sharing posts of their Jeeps being “ducked” from all around the world.
If you want to get in on the action, there are just a few duck rules you must follow. First, you need to purchase some rubber ducks and some tags or sticky notes (Don’t forget a pen or marker). Next, find a Jeep, ANY Jeep…Wrangler, Cherokee, Compass, Gladiator, and more. Lastly, place the duck along with a kind message in a spot where the driver will see it. That’s it! You have officially spread kindness in the world. Encourage your friends and family to keep this trend going.
If you’re itching to be “ducked” yourself, but don’t drive a Jeep, maybe it’s time you start shopping! There’s no better time than now. Check out our Jeep inventory at Benna Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. Feel free to contact us or stop by our Superior location.
