When Will Jeep Make an Electric Vehicle?

Over the decades, Jeep hasn’t been best known for developing efficient vehicles, even though it has done exactly what many times. What Jeep is known for is rugged off-road capability. So, as the automotive industry shifts toward electric mobility, is there a world where Jeep’s iconic offroad prowess can mesh with electric efficiency?

The answer is, yes, and Jeep has confirmed as much. In fact, Jeep has laid out its plans for an electric future, starting with two upcoming models that are expected to hit the scene in 2024.

What We Know About the Jeep Recon

The first is the Recon, recently announced by Jeep. It’s a 100% electrically-powered SUV and will retain Jeep’s 4×4 ability. What we know so far is that the Recon will utilize e-locker axle technology and will even be capable of putting the top down at the touch of a button. The doors and glass are also removable.

This model is expected to be available in 2024, while orders are expected to begin in early 2023.

What We Know About the Wagoneer S

Next up on the list is the Wagoneer S, though it’s been announced that this name is actually a “code name,” so don’t be surprised if the production version of the model actually releases under a different nameplate.

So far, it’s been said that the Wagoneer S is looking to have a driving range of 400 miles o a single charge while delivering up to 600 horsepower. To put that into perspective, it would be like driving from here in Superior, WI to Milwaukee without having to charge even once.
For now, that’s just about all we know about Jeep’s electric future here in North America, but we can confirm that there is indeed an electric future. Be sure to check back to the Benna CDJR blog for more updates.
